Fort Hood: Who knew what ... and when

It was a horrific attack on one of our most important military bases — not in Afghanistan or Iraq — but right here in the United States. Major Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, is the suspect. And now, very troubling questions have moved to the forefront: What was his connection to radical Islamists? Why did he reportedly try to contact al-Qaeda? The ACLJ is urging the Senate to act swiftly — and thoroughly — to find out what was behind this massacre at Fort Hood. Was this home-grown terrorism? Were warning signs missed? The American people deserve to know what happened and why. As an American citizen who proudly supports our Armed Forces, I am deeply concerned by the recent massacre at Fort Hood. In the aftermath of this brutality, troubling questions remain unanswered. What was Major Hasan’s connection to radical Islamists? Was this home-grown terrorism? And more importantly, were crucial warning signs missed — and why?
I was greatly encouraged by Senator Lieberman’s strong stand in demanding an in-depth investigation into this horrific and deadly attack on an American military base. The American people, and the families of the fallen, deserve nothing less than the truth. I encourage the Senate to get these tough questions answered and urge you to call for a formal and thorough investigation into the rampage at Fort Hood.
