I really want a motorcycle, it will be a great to and from work vehicle while saving me a ton of money on gas.

The wife thinks I should not get one, saying they are unsafe and keeps bringing up examples of my friends and father that have recently been in accidents.

We have the money to afford a bike, should I just get one and face her wrath, should I just accept that I will be stuck in a car for the rest of my life or should I try to reach a compromise with her?
