What are you waiting for?

The first day was long and full driving with passing scenery of stone and wave. Tremendous walls rose of mountain drawing the eye towards them as they reached for the sky. Birds flew over head as road signs and green vastness flew by. Many hours rode the wind and soon we arrived in the Sin City. It was a towering monolith to mans' gluttony and over indulgence in all things. Buildings of all shapes and sizes stormed from the ground, crowded together but each unique with something special to offer to anyone willing to part with time and money. Today would be the day of rest.

After sleep we made a point to get in some gambling action while wandering vast corridors in search not only of shops and excitement but of any sight that might be seen. We experienced a show of unrivaled proportions with tremendously skilled impersonators that left my heart souring. The very show itself had my soul and my spirits wound. After surveying many shops and purchasing various wares from more-than-willing-to-haggle merchants and had our food.

Soon we discovered the arcade and our inner children indulged merrily hand in hand accumulating more than 8000 tickets! But we saved and saved. We spent many a minute or couple hundred wandering the sweltering streets and taking pictures so not only would our memories be preserved but so that others might have a taste of our adventure and perhaps spur them onto adventures of their own! After nearly giving to heat exhaustion it was time to hit the pool with albeit too heavily chlorinated was more than refreshing.

The final day went to a place where the models do not moved composed of much the same things as a candle or a doll. Where beady eyes do not shift, but touched in the right place a cheek might shine or words may be heard. There existence bothered me in that they were soulless and unmoving and left me wondering whether I should be reaching for my kunai necklace or simply soak it all in. That evening we treated our gracious host and chauffeur Patrick to dinner for all the sacrifices he had made to see to it our dream had come true.

The fifth day as we took to the road once more home never seemed more far off and we had nearly reached it when it was discovered our tire was a loss. After the great kindness and generosity of strange shown like a lighthouse in the fog we were on our way till finally we were back in this tiny little town we call home. We feasted with Megan's family on delicious foods and though I had become ill over the course of said days the trip was more than worth as something I had both never experienced and would cherish for all of my days as the best trip I'd ever had. And now with time my body has rapidly recovered though not completely, so with new appreciation for our simple town and simple way of life, a few new lessons and a lot of new equipment I set out to return to work and appreciate once more what I have.

Many generations ago the world suffered a great calamity. Darkness spread, born of the human heart and an army of demons began to rise. This army lead by what used to be a human, the demon Jurai consumed all in its path until the world eventually fell to darkness. All was barren and there was little that survived.

The terrains were unrecognizable, once busy cities and city-states had fallen to ruin and all seemed lost. But a glimmer of hope still existed, the “city of the strong” Juno. With every mage gathered they shined a beacon to all who would see it, and warriors gathered from all corners of Rune-Midgard. Experienced and inexperienced, man, woman, child, elderly or young all gathered to this place in hopes of making one last stand not only for their kind but for the very planet itself. And at the center of this turmoil, unbeknownst to most was a very unlikely hero who would prove our savior.

A young super novice named Onikia Owikawa. He and his band of misfits traveled far and wide and soon we too had an army. Then came the fateful day; the reckoning. The final battle had begun to ravage everything and while man and beast fought toe to toe Onikia was locked in a battle to the death with Jurai. All the fighting gave birth to the dark shadow, the divine beast Ragnarok. A dragon so immense it could be seen all over Rune Midgard. With its five tremendous mouths agape with flame man and monster both quaked in its presence. It had seemed all hope was lost when a most glorious thing happened. Light and dark fused as Jurai and Onikia clashed.

Many watched in wonder as the two became the greatest warrior ever known, Omni. Single handedly Omni defended the people as they rose in waves to bring down the titan but its strength was too much even in a weakened state. And so Omni did the only thing he could and gave himself to save us all. In a flash of light that was seen nearly around the world all that remained of Ragnarok and Omni was now our monument, the Grand Cross Canyon. In the aftermath life returned to normal with but a scar on the planet as a constant reminder of the darkness that lie in every man’s heart.

That was nearly a thousand year ago. Life and progress had become stunted by the decreased human population and so man worked to not only reclaim their prior glory to but surpass it. And with it came new skills and new foes. And so new job classes rose making way for an entirely new generation of heroes. Mine being one of them.

I am, Shirozaka Tonzura of the Clan of Roaring Weapons. My clan has been training and honing the dark skills left over by the demon seed to create the ninja. We live in secrecy in the Amatsu region. In the vast surroundings of nature and in the shadowy depths of the dungeons we have worked diligently to harness the power of the elements. Wind, water, fire and shadow. Amongst us we also have a ranking system to easily determine the skills of an individual. Today I had finally been dubbed Shinobi, named after the art of stealth I was now ready to become a tracking ninja, something I had intended to do ever since my child hood.

You see we ninjas are very secretive and should only be seen when we allow ourselves too. But one made a rash choice that compromised the safety of our entire clan. His name? Jigan Bane. He foolishly turned against the beliefs of the clan and wandered into the outside world to see what other job classes existed.

And now finally a Shinobi I have been charged with his retrieval at all costs. This task would be daunting to most, years passing and continents worth of travel but you see we have something in common, the seed. Part of the reason for our hiding is we are the remnants of the demon king. After his destruction his familiars be it willing or otherwise were permanently cursed to carry the husk of the seed that symbolized their allegiance. And as such so would every generation to come. We “seed bearers” are easy to see.

The seed though dormant still contains part of Jurai’s incredible power and certain individuals have slowly started to become “tainted”. While it should remain useless in certain cases the seed awakens giving enhanced abilities to its bearer. It’s because of this I’m able to track Jigan, not only will his abilities shine above all others but it’s also a well kept secret that when more than one seed bearer is in the area the seed begins to shine like a beacon, calling out to its counter parts.
