Notice to the Pinellas County School Board and Dunedin-Highland Middle School.It is illegal to hold an IEP meeting without the parent present in some form , let alone to implement said IEP.I know the IDEA laws that are set into place by the federal government to prevent this particular issue.My thoughts and feelings have not been heard nor have they been taken into consideration.I asked to have that meeting rescheduled due to a medical issue with my other child.Instead I get a verbal message relayed back to me by the child that the IEP affects saying ..."it can't be rescheduled ..sorry."
The school board would best be reminded about the laws in which they are held accountable.I'm not a parent who does not care about my childs education..I am infact...A PARENT THAT IS DEEPLY INVOLVED IN THE EDUCATION AND PHYSICAL WELL BEING OF MY CHILDREN.The fact that one of your ESE teachers has once again gone against the laws that govern special needs kids highly ticks me off.They would also be better reminded that I am a parent whom has delt with IEP and 504 issues for the last 7 years with one if not both of my children in two different states.
Pinellas County Schools have fucked with the wrong parent yet again.I will NOT allow any of my children to fall thru the so called " acceptal" cracks in the education system.I've spent 12 years being an advocate for specials needs kids and their rights in the health and school arenas.I always go out of my way to help other parents so they don't have to go thru the educational BS alone and can navigate the best interests of their child(ren).
If this is how Florida school operates on a regular basis then it's no wonder why so many kids have an illiteracy problem.PARENTS: GET INVOLVED...MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR CHILDS EDUCATIONAL WELFARE....THE MORE PARENTS ACTUALLY INVOLVED THE BETTER AS IT WILL HELP ALL CHILDREN IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM.DON'T SIT ON YOUR ASSES AND THINK THAT THE SCHOOL IS ACTUALLY LOOKING OUT FOR THE BEST INTERESTS OF YOUR CHILDS EDUCATION...MOST REALLY DON'T CARE.
