Back in 1982 I had a goal to sail around the world. I knew that if I wanted to do this I would have to become efficiently independent. I started to save and invest to make this dream come true. After 5.5 years in the Navy, a year with Lockheed and 11 years at Boeing I had enough in more ways then one. In Sept 1999 I quit work and started to outfit my 36 foot ketch for a world cruise. A self contained sailboat with solar and wind energy, a watermaker and a lot more was refitted. Then in 2003 I headed to Canada for a 5 month cruise. For the last month of that cruise I was rebuilding the engine while Anchored in Ganges Harbour, Saltspring Island Canada. In June 2004 I made an attempt for Alaska but because I was having too much fun zigzaging in Canadian waters, I didn't make it. By Aug 2005 The boat was ready for the world.
