Retired Naval Submariner of 22 years (1974-1996), single parent with 3 at home (11B/13G/14B). I've been stationed nn San Diego CA, Pearl Harbor HI, Guam, Bangor WA, New London CT, and Kings Bay GA. Also operated out of Cape Canaveral FL on 3 different submarines. I was drafted in the last Vietnam draft so I enlisted before my report date so I could choose my own service. I have never regretted that choice and am proud that my son became the 3rd generation to serve our country. My oldest is a Sergeant in the Army and is back from Iraq after a second tour. I'm now a high school math teacher at my school district's disciplinary alternative school. I am at this school by choice because I believe that kids make bad choices and not because they are bad kids. Most of them don't know that they can choose a different way and that the choice is really up to them.
