Earthquake

Just had a light earthquake just big enough to feel for a few seconds. It occurred at 10:29 AM (PDT) today, Sunday, September 2, 2007. The magnitude 4.7 event occurred 8 miles(13 km) WNW of Lake Elsinore, CA. Which is due east of where I live here in Anaheim, CA and approx 30 + miles away. The hypocentral depth is 2 miles (2 km). It was a sharp shake, followed by a few seconds of a 'sliding motion'... trust me, they all have different feels to them! This was extremely minor and just one of those you stop, then shrug and go about your day kind of quakes. Trust me, we like these :) and nothing like a hurrican or tornado, and even if a quake is a bad one, they are years in between and still, tornados and hurricanes are every year swathing a path of destruction.

Harry's been stolen!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Harry, my pal that has lived on my front porch swing for 10 months has been stolen while I was out buying meds for being sick...he was wearing his very own Mickey Mouse ears too :( I even had his Halloween outfit ready to go, and now some asshole has taken my Harry!!! Not to mention I had a small wrought iron banner stand with a very cool pirates skull n crossbones banner and they took that too!! I've lived here almost 5 years and never have had one thing taken, and now this within two hours... Harry always kept me company when I would sit and sip my coffee, wine, water, and just listen to me talk, he was a very good listener. Not been a good month... losing my childhood friend, my cat, new management at work and changing our work hours, and now Harry.... :(

What a week

Just got back from picking Trouble's ashes up in his wooden box..he'll sit next to the box containing the ashes of Domino - I had Domino over 16 years..those were two great cats and companions. They were always there to make me feel good whenever I didn't. Always there to greet me, make me feel wanted and cared about. The day after Trouble was killed, I find out a childhood friend living in another state was drowned...just not a great week.. Here's to all of our pets and companions!

Death of a special pet

This morning was like any Sunday morning, relaxing, sleeping in ... it's my "Saturday" and both cats, wanted their breakfast and petting time..then Trouble, the big grey tabby that I have a picture of in my photo section - was outside chilling and watching the world go by like he has done every day for the past 5 1/2 years I had him. I puttered around the house, Pumpkin, my little tiny calico hanging out with me and then I checked on Trouble who was sitting on the sidewalk in the shade. He was a neighborhood favorite - he greeted everyone, people would stop and point out at the 32 pound friendly cat sitting there....he was quite the celebrity... Then an hour goes by, I'm getting ready to head back down 60 miles south to San Diego to hang with Ellen, my oldest friend since 6th grade! Her beloved dog, Sabbath, just got diagnozed with stage 4 cancer and not much time left for him, so her I was coming down to cheer her up and now we're cheering each other up. A bang on my front door, and neighbors from down the street were frantic for me to come look just feet away from my front door to the sidewalk on other side of hedge where Trouble lay dead. There were tiremarks up on the sidewalk, he was just off to the side of the neighbor's drive way but some one went up on the curb and ran him over. My neighbors were crying, they loved that cat and he was their highlight of their morning walks because of how sweet and friendly he was. I miss him so much! He was a big part of my life with unconditional love and affection, always there to put a smile on my face when home from work and cuddling when I slept... poor Pumpkin has never been alone and she's wondering where he is. Yes,he was just a cat, but he was my cat.

One year on CT

Today is my one year anniversary on Cherry.... hard to believe it's been that long! Thank you all for a great year of friendship! I have been very lucky to meet some extraordinary people here. Here's to the start of year number two!

Stupid Tourist Tricks

To start off, I work in security emergency services at Disneyland (the one in Calif) which is just like police dispatch... and tonight, we had a doozy under the Stupid Tourist Trick categor!!! I tell you, the gene pool needs more chlorine! Tonight we get an emergency call from one of the elevators at the huge parking structure from a guest stuck in one of the guest elevators. He said he was punching the button for almost 5 minutes and then decided to hit the emergency button which comes directly to us... Here's the catch, the elevator door was OPEN the whole time he was "stuck" in the elevator!!! Please, get this man out of the gene pool!

This past Saturday was the 7th annual City of Hope picnic that we as costumers have been invited to participate in. This is held up in Los Angeles at Griffith Park by the train section. It's been an honor to attend this wonderful picnic. These children have been through it all with chemo, surgery, and all kinds of cancer treatment. It's simply amazing to see these children and their family enjoy themselves for the day. At times we are glad to have helmets on for the tears in our eyes when we are hugged and for seeing the looks on their faces through out the day. I'm not good at writing poetry, but wrote this one about myself... Night It calls to me Beckons with its ebony caress I answer night's call Needing to be enveloped within its deepest and darkest secrets. Only within the shadows I exist Within its velvety folds I await. For what am I that dwells within the darkness? Here I belong Here I stay The Lady of the shadows.

rating stashes

Guess I do not understand rating down.... if you don't like something you see or hear then just don't rate at all....but to downrate I think is rude and many people here would think the same. It is what I do so as not to be rude to others.. I will just pass by and rate a thumbs up or a 10 - and which is what I'm sure others would want as well.
