How quick we can be to say mean or hurtful things when sheltered by a screen.  We make fun of each other.  Put others down to make ourselves feel better. But have u ever stopped to think that your hurtful words could be the last ones that person sees?  Have you ever stopped to think about the ramifications of your actions?  What if the person u are basically bullying is in a fragile state?  What if they are contemplating suicide cuz the world would be better of without them?  But u would have no way of knowing that because the screen protects you... but does it protect them?  Will they think to themselves "oh they don't mean any of what they are saying.  they are just playing" or will they take your words to heart and disappear?

Studies have been done proving that people who are sweet and kind in person can turn vicious and hurtful when sitting behind a screen.  Something about not looking into the eyes of the person you are hurting makes it all ok.  It makes it ok to tell them things u would never walk up and say to a stranger.  It seems more and more the support systems are shifting to online communities.  People now turn to "friends" and "family" made up of people they have never met in person but have built tight connections to online. Now people post trails and triumphs before they pick up the phone and call/text a real life friend or family member to share the news. As time passes people are giving more credibility and weight to what their online communities say than to what people in their "real lives" say. Keep that in mind when talking to people and playing games.       

 Yes, the web is one giant playland... but just as it was in the school yard... lives are made and broken by it.  Reputaions can be built or destroyed with a keystroke.  You can give someone hope... or push them over the precipice onto the rocks of despair.
