Knocking on another door

"Fire scares me, yes, and earthquakes, and venomous snakes. People scare me more than anything, for I know too well the savagery of which humankind is capable." ~ Excerpt from Chapter 10 of Odd Thomas, by Dean Koontz In the middle of reading a book about a man who talks to ghosts, solves crimes, and takes down criminals I had a thought. In general, I don't particularly like people. Not to say I don't like certain individuals, I have friends and I enjoy the company of others. But in the grand scheme of things, I would just assume avoid delving into the real world social mix. I have the unfortunate gift of seeing things as they are and not how I would wish them to be and reality is no fun place to live. I don't think there is any inherit good, or evil for that matter, inside any of us. Rather, I think there is a primal desire. Supremacy. Simple enough, we all want to win. And, who doesn't? There is nothing wrong with wanting success. The issue lies in seeking individualism power verses achieving a universal goal. Human nature doesn't seek to just win; rather, it seeks to dominate. And we take our individualism to the next level with what I call mass individualism, i.e: Political affiliations, religious sects, social class, and so one. Religion, in general, has it's "one way out" mentality which usually excludes anyone not following that same path. This provides the given sect dominance or victory over the rest. I am not going to ramble on about religion, this is merely an example. If, by some tragic means, you are to dense to realize that this world is drawing it's last breaths, then I grieve for you. Whether you believe the Earth has been here for 6000 years or trillions, it has reached a crossroad. Life or death. Human kind has spread across this planet like a masochistic virus fueled by dissonance. "Dictate what you think is pivotal mandate just for the sake of ego controlling your decision making. The world we're missing is still ours for the taking" ~ Something We Can't Be - Project 86 I do like using the arts to relate my point, because liturature, art, music, and the various other forms don't just speak to the mind, they can speak to the soul. The afore mentioned song does hit the nail on the head. It is not too late to make a change. However, I'll quote Barack Obama, "The time for change is now." Not to say I back him, or don't. Only that he makes a valid point. Now is the time for change. I don't have an escape plan. The answer isn't found in any one person. It has to be a universal decision. Is that possible? Well, I'll go back to the first quote I made. "I know too well the savagery of which humankind is capable."

The only one 100% undeniable truth in Life is that it is going to end. In all of time, no one has ever established proof that we get a second chance, NO proof in an after-life, NO opportunity to make an ammendment to the life we leave behind. As the old saying goes, "make hay while the sun shines." So that when the sun does finally set on your life, the one opportunity you get, you can die having actually lived. If you spend your life clammed up in your room, get outside and see the world you have the privilege to live in. If you are an "outdoorsy" type. Go home and open a book once in a while and learn about the joys of just doing nothing. What I'm saying is don't do something, do everything. Live.

If you are the type of person that gets their feelings hurt everytime someone doesn't like you... Well, grow up. You are the only one who has a say in what YOU think about YOURSELF.

If you are the type of person that feels you're better than anyone else, well Fuck You. Nothing in this world makes you or me or anyone better than anyone else. Not what you have, or what I don't have. In the end, none of us take it with us when we go. You are gonna leave this world the same way you came in it. By yourself. Alone. We all are, because we are all EQUAL. Death, the only certainty, is no respecter of persons.

If you are the type of person that just feel like life isn't worth it, everything is wrong and fucked up, nothing is ever going to get better, and people hate you... Well, people probably do hate you, nothing is probably ever going to get better, everything you touch is wrong and fucked up, and honestly... I don't think life could honestly be worth it. With such a crappy attitude, All those things would more than likely be true.

To each of you... I think this quote does apply, quite well.

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.” - Charles R. Swindoll

There is one other type of person I want to touch base with this morning. To you, the people out there trying to "change the world," go home, tell your wife/husband/kids/parents you love them, spend time with them, treat total strangers the same way you treat your friends, and just live your life as best you can. Don't do anything else. This world isn't going to change until people first turn inward and change themselves. If each of us made it a point to live the best life as the best person we could be, then the need for things like military, police, prisons, court systems, and government itself would dissipate and vanish entirely.

Now, some of you may say, "Well that's just wishful thinking and utopian day-dreaming. And it will never happen." Well, each and every one of you that feels that way is the EXACT reason why it will never happen.

Maybe only one person will read this. Maybe this will never have any effect on anyone in the world. It's quite possible. Very, even. But this is inside me, and I just wanted to get it out of me. This isn't some "motivational speech" or an attempt to change anyone, but I do hope it motivates someone and if it changes anyone that might read it, then I'm happy. If it doesn't, then fine. Go back to your lounge, buy another round for everyone, talk, laugh, and cover up your unhappiness for just a bit longer. Again... this very well may be the only life you and I have.

... just saying. ...

5:00am Tuesday, September 22

So, I'm bored.

There are funions sleeping under my chair. I should sweep those up at some point.

The people living under my bed tell me that I am too forthright with people. I disagree, but they are entitled to their opinion.

My cat, Tig, tells me my roomate creeps him out. I tell Tig that he creeps me out for talking. Cats shouldn't talk.

Sometimes I think the world would be cooler if it really was flat. DAMN YOU COLUMBUS!!!

Tomorrow is another day... and so is the next.

All real friends are "friends with benefits" even if you don't have sex with them. It's always benefitial to have friends!!

Hang out for Christ. He hung out for you.

I am a prisoner locked up behind Xanax bars, I have just boarded a plane without a pilot

Pull my finger. ... *poot* heh
