Ok, Last night, I headed out to go down to my favorite hang out place on the weekends, The Irish Pub.
It's a short walk to downtown from my place right now. When I move back into the barracks, I'll have catch a cab but this is a good set up for now.
Anyway, as soon as I hit the street, I could here the music and knew it was gonna be a GREAT night.
I believe the reason that germans and Americans get along so well is that German know how to throw great parties and Americans LOVE to go to great parties. It's a match made in heaven.
It took me about 45 minutes to walk there. I was expecting one of the Parks to be filled with booths, Brat and beer stands, and, obviously, a stage to be set up, and then the WalkPlatz to be half filled. This is not what I found!
They had the Grass area in front of the KurHouse FILLED with booths and a stage and the Main roda CLOSED off for atleats 2 kilometers. They had another Stage set up in the MIDDLE of the road and was playing techno so load, the base was moving my body(not making me dance, I mean moving me backwards) and so PACKED, at all times I was in physical contact with at least 3 other poeple, and that was in the less congested areas!
When I left, since i was planning on just going to the Pub, I wore their shirt. They ought to be happy about that because all the people i was taking pictures of saw the shirt and thought I was their photographer, so are probably gonna go there to pic up their pictures, bringing them a lot more customers. I don't want money, but hey, a free drink now and then would be nice, you know? LOL!
I didn't even make it to the WalkPlatz. It was GREAT.
I finally made ot the Pub and got a Jack and Coke and Baby Guiness, my favorite shot, and ran into a few buddies. I hung out there for a while, then headed down to Scrooges to see a couple of good friends I know hang out there.
They weren't there, but I did run into Bolton, a German lady who is also in the U.S. Army. She introduced me to a couple of friends of hers. Thats where the shots and drinks started flowing. It was better than the street fest. I didn't get back to the house until sometime after 5 am.
Some of you back in the states think that you can party because after the club or bar closes at 1am, your still ready to go and hit another or get something from the store and go back to someones house, then you are done around 3, maybe 4. You can't hold a candle to these people.
Some clubs are open from the sometime Friday till sometime LATE Monday Morning. And it will be packed the whole time! Try walking out of a club into the sunlight well after sunrise.
I am supposed to be meeting a few of my new aquantices back down there tonigh and go at it again, but i am going to need some more sleep first, the few hours i got this morning will not be anywhere near enough.
