The Universal Life Church (ULC) serves as a legal umbrella sheltering independent religious thought and expression from political control by church or state. It has no traditional dogma or doctrine beyond "live and help live," and "do that which is right."

Because of its unorthodoxy, ULC defended its rights as a "legitimate church" in United States Courts, and prevailed. This opened the way for many New Age and other churches to practice and teach their beliefs freely today. I believe that no other church has been required to prove its right to exercise its freedom of religion in America!

Amendment I
