What witches believes?

Of basic beliefs and ethics . . . This is a tough one to answer simply, because among all the other things witches are, we are individualists. We each make our own relationship with Deity, and each grow and love in our own way. It is said that if you ask a room full of thirteen witches a question, you'll get twenty-five different answers. And it's true. That said, there are some fundamental beliefs that pull us together strongly enough to create the sort of loving community you see here. Wicca is a spiritual path, a way of seeing the world and Divinity, and our relationship to it. It is a very simple ethical principle. It is a way of life. And it is a way of tuning into the shifting energies of life around us and tapping into those energies to make the world a better place; this is what we mean by magic. We believe that Deity/Source/God/dess is imminent in the world around us. Divinity permeates every living thing. . .and most of us define rocks, soil, water, air, fire, and the planet Herself as living things. Just look with an open heart at a dew-filled spider web or a lacework of bare winter branches covered with ice crystals, and you'll see what we mean. God/dess is IN there. S/He's in each one of us, too. This idea has many ramifications. First, it means every living thing is sacred. We don't believe in a hierarchy of God above man above animals above plants. We believe Divinity permeates everything, and so everything has an equal right to our love, reverence, respect, and protection. Witches tend to be dedicated environmentalists. But more than that, we let ourselves be guided by a very simple and powerful ethical principle: "An it harm none, do as ye will." Instead of listing a number of "Thou shalt nots," we say that as long as one's actions don't harm any living thing, including ourselves, in ANY way, we can do whatever brings joy and love into our lives. So, fun between consenting adults --with suitable precautions-- is okay. Using any sort of physical, mental, emotional, or magical coercion if someone is reluctant, is NOT. Second, because we believe that Divinity is in everything we see, we don't create a hierarchy of values based on things of the spirit being of more worth than things of the body. Our bodies are rather miraculous gifts God/dess provides to allow us to live in and learn from on the physical plane. We see it as a spiritual imperative to take care of them. Every act that helps us maintain our physical existence thus takes on a spiritual dimension. When doing dishes or cleaning out the basement become sacred acts, life is a whole lot richer. We also believe that our thoughts, actions, emotions, and prayers create energy. This energy goes out into the world and, in the process of being reflected by the other beings there, is multiplied before it returns to us. Some say threefold, others say tenfold; it may vary. But what we put out returns to us multiplied, whether that be love or fear, anger or compassion. So most of us work actively to try to diffuse our fears, express our anger cleanly and let it go, and to develop a greater understanding of the world around us. Our lives are gifts, and if we need to protect ourselves, we do; generally through the most peaceful means possible. Often this takes the form of surrounding ourselves with light to reflect or deflect anything that means us harm. We do kill to eat; most creatures do. Some of us are vegetarian. Personally, because I see plants as people, too, and know that something must die so I can survive, I eat a variety of foods, expressing my gratitude for this food to the creatures who supply it. Another belief that many of us share is that our souls cycle through many lifetimes. We will be back to enjoy the progression of the seasons again. Among witches, there are many different visions of the time and space between lives; most are joyful places where we meld more closely with our Gods. But because we know we'll be back again, we know that any mess we leave behind will be here when we return (possibly even multiplied in the interim). Another strong motivator to live in harmony and respect with all others in our world. One of the things we learn, in deeper and deeper ways as we progress on this path, is that on the levels of spirit and energy, we are not only connected to, but literally ONE with all living things. Any harm we do another is, in the long run, harm to ourselves. We don't need a disciplinary God to judge us; we see the results of our actions. Harm harms us; love strengthens us. This is extremely empowering, because we know that if we make our own messes, we can also, with the support and loving guidance of the Goddess and God, clean them up. Of the Goddesses and Gods . . . So, what Gods and Goddesses do we believe in? Here is where individuality really comes in. Most witches see Divinity as complex and reflecting all the different traits and aspects of human nature. It is common to speak of Divinity as Goddess and God, Lord and Lady, Mother and Father, where the Goddess represents feminine, life-giving, nourishing, receptive forces, and the God represents masculine, dynamic, projective forces. The Goddess is often identified with the Moon: mysterious, and ever changing. The God is similarly identified with the Sun: vitalising and life giving. Many witches see the Goddess as three-fold: Maiden, Mother and Crone. The Crone is the figure most often identified with witches in popular culture, as the warty old hag who flies on her broomstick and harasses Dorothy, Snow White, and trick-or-treaters. Witches see Her as a grandmotherly figure of great wisdom and compassion, who sometimes challenges us to grow by tweaking our fears, and who helps us face death when the time comes. The Mother is the nourishing aspect who births, feeds, supports, and loves us. The Maiden is the playful curious aspect who encourages us to explore our world with joy. The God is often seen and the Lord of the forest and of the animals. Sometimes He is depicted as a laughing man with a luxurious beard of Oak leaves. He can be depicted as the warrior prince who inspires us with hope when we must defend something precious to us. . . our land, our loved ones, or our truths. Very often he is associated with virile male animals such as stags, stallions and rams. More on this later, as it is these images that Christianity has incorporated into their Lord of Evil. Many of the ancient pagan dieties were gods and goddesses of fertility. This makes sense when you remember that survival depended on the fertility of crops and herds, and that a large family meant more hands to work the farms. In our overcrowded modern world, witches tend to focus on the fertility of our minds and creative work. It is a precious part of our faith to emulate Her creativity in our work, play, and households. There are whole pantheons of Gods and Goddesses from different countries and eras of history. The Welsh Gods might appeal to people of that ancestry. Egyptian Gods and Goddesses might appeal to people with past lives in that time. It is neither right nor wrong to limit oneself to working with Divinities from one culture or another. Some witches might choose to work with Mother Goddesses from many cultures, for example. My own way of seeing this is that Divinity is like a huge jewel with many, many facets that all direct and reflect light in their own ways. We all see different facets depending on the angle we look from. None is better or more correct than any other, although with the polishing power of many prayers, some of the facets get bigger than some of the others. The Christian God has a huge facet, and does put out a lot of light, but He is not the whole picture. We work with the Gods and Goddesses that call to us, and we develop relationships with them that help and support us in our evolution. Of the Flows of Nature . . . Many of us tune into the energies of Nature around us and make a conscious effort to live, work, and play in harmony with them. Most witches follow the phases of the Moon and time their work according to how its purpose harmonises with Her phases. Most witches follow the cycles of the Sun and His effects on the flora and fauna of our world, and we try to harmonise our work with the energies of the seasons. Many of us follow the courses of the stars and planets, and work with their influences according to the wisdom of astrology. This principle is characteristic of many earth-based religions and also Buddhism, which calls it "going with the flow." We learn that there are times when action is appropriate, and times when we would better spend our time in reflection. There are times when we can build and accomplish much, and times when we can let go of habits we no longer need. Everything we do is a little more powerful when we harness the natural flows around us rather than fighting them. Of Magic . . . And this leads into a discussion of magic. Life itself is magic: the cycles of birth and death, the processes of healing, the processes of homeostasis in living bodies. Witches learn to nudge these natural processes by applying focus and will. Our plants grow better if we focus the life-giving energies of Goddess and God in them, according to their natures and natural cycles. Our careers progress better if we focus our minds and learn to set goals for the highest good of all. Our physical and emotional health flourish if we are aware of the constant need to give and take, to assimilate and cleanse, to push ourselves to our limits and to experience new boundaries, and if we are aware of the gifts of the foods we eat and the plants we use for healing. Beyond these processes of living well, yes, we practice the application of will to accomplish our wishes. We know from the outset that if we will something that will harm another, the chance of our work being successful are reduced. If what we wish is in harmony with Divine Will, our magic is simply a demonstration of our willingness to work within that Plan. We apply our focused will to the purpose we have in mind, at a time and in a way conducive to harnessing the energies of Nature that support our purpose, and then we let Divine Will determine the outcome for the highest good of all. When we work in this way, spells, incantations, incense, candles, music, and ritual tools are used only as ways of focussing our intent and energy. The words of a spell are less important than the intent behind them, and the focus we have learned through discipline. This is why many witches do not like to teach spells to those who might use them to force an issue without being aware of the principles behind magic. Of Our Past . . . Witchcraft is based on what we know or try to reconstruct of the beliefs of pagan peoples in the world before Christianity. Some study scholarly works and archeology for clues to these beliefs. Some claim that they are initiated into wisdom that has been passed down to them in an unbroken lineage from those times. Some open to remembering how they have related to Divinity in previous incarnations. Some find their memories in poems and songs. Some simply hear of our beliefs and practices, know this is the right path for them, and learn by doing. In the time since our religions were dominant on Earth, other religions have held sway over centuries of civilisation. These religions have misconstrued what we are about based on their own world views. It is tempting at times to protest what we are NOT in response to what others say about us. But the truth is that this merely drags us into trying to define ourselves by their frames of reference. For example, we are not Satanists. Satan is a figure created many centuries after Christ's death. It was constructed of a Persian demon figure and those of our Gods endowed with horns and hooves. It was used by the Christians as a repository for the qualities of humanity that they considered sinful. It is almost as if, having taken all the good and loving qualities of humanity and deposited them in their God, the Christian Church needed to similarly externalise all the dark and fearsome qualities. Satan is actually irrelevant to the witch's world-view because we make a virtue of owning all our qualities, light and dark. Deity is within us, and so are our shadows. This gives us the power to explore, know, shed light upon, and heal our shadows rather than try to deny them and let them rule us in ways we are unaware of. Since the early Christians thought we served their anti-God, Satan, they feared us. And in their fear, they sought us out and killed many of us; over nine million people are believed to have been killed in witch hunts in the Middle Ages. Many of these were not witches, but were women living alone, or healers and midwives. We honour these souls, and we pray for an end to the fear that led to their deaths. Of our Present . . . We see our time on this Earth as an opportunity to grow, heal, learn, make amends for past mistakes, and allow our souls to evolve. In the process, we meditate, pray, sing, and create art, music, poetry and prose. We love our families and friends. We take great joy in the beauty of the world around us and in making the parts of it we live in beautiful and healthy. We serve Divine Will by functioning as gardeners and doctors, mothers and administrators, counsellors and craftspeople, computer operators and entertainers. We make it a goal to interact with our world in a loving respectful way, and we forgive ourselves when we fall short. We help each other, and we grow. If you think you might be one of us, read on. If not, we respect your path and wish you well on your journey nonetheless. Regardless, be our guest for as long as you wish. We hope our information about healing will be of interest to you, and of course our hearts will be just as open.

Original Post: " ANGELS AND WICCA I believe in Angels, their presence is everywhere in the warmth of a helping hand, in the smiles that people share. Angels are at the heart of the good things people do, and when our days are troubled, their caring guides us through. Angels' love is all around; In stars that light the night, in a mother's gentle words and arms that hold you tight. I believe that angels are special messengers of love, God's way of making earth a bit more like heaven above. HOW TO TALK TO YOUR ANGEL: I'm often asked "can I speak to my angels and how do I do it?" It's not science, but there are some basic principles that will help you. You've probably heard from your angels at some time, you just didn't realize it. It's that feeling or voice that says "watch out" or makes you feel like you just have to do something. But how do you actively converse with your angels? First you need to get into the right frame of mind and spirit. What you expect is what you can manifest. That's the law. Angels don't operate in a world that is governed by the same limitations that we live with on a daily basis. First you have to believe that angels are real and that they are there to help you. Make a clear decision that you are going to invite the spirit of the angels into your life. If you do not faithfully request their presence, then you may not receive it. Part of the law that governs angels is that they may not interfere with your free will, except in times of danger when your life may be threatened and it is not yet time for your soul to transition. First you must find a quiet time and place in your day. Go somewhere where you know that you will not be disturbed. Take the time to sit and relax. Take a few deep breaths and let any negative thoughts or feelings drift away. You will find this simple breathing exercise helpful in relaxing your body and mind. Take a deep breath from deep in your diaphragm, in through your nose. Hold this breath for a count of 4. Then slowly exhale through your mouth to a count of 4. Repeat this at least 3-4 times. Try to keep your mind alert but peaceful. Now make a point to personally invite the spirit of the angels to enter your heart. You may simply say "angels, I invite you into my heart and into my life." Focus on the areas you require guidance in. Make up your mind that you will receive whatever guidance it is you're seeking. Believing this will help you to receive it. Just be patient and let it happen. Remember that angels are gentle spirits. You must listen carefully for their quiet, inner voice. Let your heart and mind go with the spirit and allow their gentle presence and that quiet, inner voice to speak to you. You may feel a sense of peace and clarity, a quiet energy, and sometimes a chilly or warm tingling coming over you. This all depends on how much you are able to let go. You may want to have a notebook or a journal handy so that you can write down any thoughts or words that might come to you. Just try to record what comes to you, whatever pops into your consciousness. If you have a particular need, ask a question and just listen. Remember that, like everything else that's worthwhile, it might take a little bit of time for you to become comfortable enough with the process for it to be able to fully work for you. Be grateful after an angelic experience. Let the angels know that you will be contacting them again and that you will try to become more aware of them in your daily life. Invite them to bring peace, protection, healing and guidance into your life. You may find that if you seek their presence on a regular basis that your relationship with them will only continue to grow and become an even greater benefit to you. CALLING AN ANGEL: Excerpted from 'Angel Therapy' by Doreen Virtue, published by Hay House, Inc. Sometimes, I'll see people whom an entourage of angels surrounds. I always stop them and ask whether they purposely called the angels. Always, the answer I hear is, "Yes, I asked to be surrounded by angels." The more we call upon the angels, the more they can come to our assistance. Angels want to surround us, and they greatly desire to give us help. Our joy brings them enormous pleasure. Yet, they cannot help us unless we ask. A universal law that binds angels says, "No angel shall interfere with a human's life unless asked, with the sole exception of a life-threatening emergency. An angel will not make decisions for a human, but-when asked-an angel may offer advice and different ways of looking at the given situation." "God and the angels aren't complicated..." So an angel may nudge you or encourage you, and an angel may create a miraculous coincidence for you. However, an angel cannot help you unless you choose to accept the help, because you have free will. To ask for angelic assistance, you needn't conduct a formal invocation ceremony. God and the angels aren't complicated, due to their true nature of pure and simple love. Only our lower-self ego believes that spirituality is necessarily complicated, because it cannot believe that something so powerful and great could be accessible to everyone instantly. Yet, it's true. The angels hear the prayers of your heart, and just by your mental cry for help, they flock to your side. You can also consciously ask for more angels to surround you or your loved one. Parents can ask for angelic baby-sitters to guide and protect their children throughout the day. If a loved one is traveling, ask Raphael and the angels to watch over the journey. Ask the angels to help your friends who are in need of comfort and direction. Some ways to call upon the angels include: Writing a letter to the angels. Pour out your heart when discussing your confusions, hurts, and anxieties. Hold nothing back, so that the angels can help every part of you and your situation. Visualizing. Call it your inner eye, your imagination, or your third eye-the term doesn't matter. Visualizing angels is a powerful way to call them to your side. See the angels flying in circles around you or your loved ones. See powerful angels thronged by your side. See the room you are in crowded with thousands of angels. These visualizations are angelic invocations that create your reality. Angels are glowing with the light of love, so they don't have a physical form. However, angels can take on a physical appearance by projecting a mental image to us, if this will help us. So if you visualize cherubs, large glowing beings, or a beautifully dressed angelic woman, the angels will take on this form to help you recognize them. Mentally calling upon angels. Think, Angels, please help me, and they are with you instantly. If you are sincere in your call, the angels hear your mental cry for assistance. You can word your request as an affirmation, such as "I have hundreds of angels surrounding me now," or as a petitional prayer: "Angels, I am in pain and need your help now." You can ask God to send you angels, or you can call the angels directly. Speaking to angels aloud. You can verbalize your request, and sometimes we do this unconsciously, such as when we say, "Oh, God" during distress. You might find that spending time alone in a quiet setting, especially outdoors in nature, is a wonderful opportunity to have a verbal conversation with the angels. THANKING YOUR ANGELS: Thanking your angels is important. They help you and look after you, so you might as well show it. What you will need: A bowl of water, a dish of salt, a white candle, a quartz crystal, a stick of incense (sandalwood is very spiritual, if it comes with myrrh that's even nicer) and a piece of fruit as an offering. Place the water bowl in the (East, southern hemisphere, West, northern hemisphere), the incense in the (West, southern hemisphere, East northern hemisphere), the dish of salt (South, southern hemisphere, North, northern hemisphere), the candle in the (North, southern hemisphere, South, northern hemisphere), the fruit and crystal in the centre. (This is an outline for what to do): Thank the God and Goddess, the Universe, Divinity, Deities, the All That Is, all the angles which have helped you and anything else you feel the need to thank like a passed on soul or a spirit guide perhaps. Tell Them that you have left some food for them and wish to thank them. Say blessed be and if you can leave all (but the fruit, throw that into a tree) outside for at least overnight, but if you can't leave it out for that long take it back inside. It could remain a personal thank you altar for the angels. Thanks to Witches Web for posting this in her blog. black and white angel " Bernard's Comment: "Watch out for this one! I could write a book about this wicked one, as he is called in 1 Jhn.5:18. The best place to start is to look in Ezekiel 28:13-15 ..You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, diamond, beryl, onyx, jasper, sapphire, emerald, carbuncle, and gold.; the workmanship of your settings and of your pipes was prepared in the day that you were created.{ he is a created being of God} You are the anointed chereb: {high ranking angel} that covers; and I{God} have set you so.{ made you this way}, you were upon the holy mountain of God; you walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity was found in you. Because of the iniquity {sin} found in him, Isaiah 14:12-15 says; How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer{ his created name}, son of the morning! How are you cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations! For you said in your heart, I will ascend into the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars { another name for angels} of God. I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High. {But God says} . Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Jesus said in Luke 10:18 "I beheld, seen Satan fallen as lighten from heaven," Lucifer was created a high ranking angel, but because of his rebellion against God he was removed from his position, to put it mildly. He is called Satan because he is humanity's adversary, the word Satan means, adversary. In Job 1:6 we read: Now there was a day when the sons of God {angels of God} came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came with them. This verse of scripture lets us know that God allows Satan to have access to His presence. One of the reasons being that Satan is no threat to God. He created him and He can destroy him at any time. God is also all knowing, so He knows what Satan is think even before the thought comes to his mind.. God allows him to continue on the earth because he drives some people to God. Satan often try to destroy people, only to have God save them and get the glory for the good that comes from His mighty hand. We are told in Revelation 20:1-3 that after the great tribulation, an angel is going to come from heaven having the key to the bottomless pit, he will take hold of the dragon, that old serpent, the Devil, also called Satan, the angel will cast Satan into the bottomless pit for a thousand years, {Christ will rule on earth during this 1000 year period of time.} After the 1000 years are complete, Satan will be loosed for a short period of time in which he will lunch one last rebellion using some of humanity. Fire will fall from heaven destroy the rebellious and Satan will be cast into the lake of fire and there he will remain for all eternity. Praise God. Bernard A. Jones www.bernardjones.blogspot.com" Christians Miss The Rapture? Will there be Christians who will miss the Rapture of the Church? This is a question that has puzzled the Saints of God for years. What is the Rapture? The Rapture is described in 1 Thessalonians 4: 15-17 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain when the Lord shall come shall not prevent or go before them which are asleep {in death}. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet blast from God; and the dead in Christ { those that are asleep}shall rise first; Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we forever be with the Lord. What could prevent a Christian from being a part of this great event? God has told us in His word to; follow peace with all men, and holiness, for with these no man shall see the Lord. Heb.12:14 If the professing Christian that lives a sinful life will not see the Lord in that state. The Apostle Paul speaking to the Ephesian Christians declared; but fornication, and all uncleanness. or covetousness, let it not be once name among you, as becomes saints, nor filthiness, nor follish talking, nor jesting. For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ, and of God. For the wrath of God comes upon the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5:3-6 We are commanded; be ye holy for I am holy. A close look at Revelation 7:9-14 reveals a startling truth. John sees a multitude which no man could number, of all nations, kindred, people and tongue stand before the throne of God. One of the Elders spoke, what are these which are arrayed in white robes, and from where came they? The answer came; these are they which came out of great tribulation {the wrath of God} and have washes their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb This multitude of saints went into the tribulation with their robes, but stained with the filth of the world. It took the tribulation, the wrath of God to cleanse these saints. They ended up in heaven, they were not lost, but they went through the tribulation. In Matthew 24 39-44 Jesus is teaching about the saints being ready for His coming. So shall also the coming of the Son of man {for His ready saints} Then shall there be two in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, the other left. Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour that you think not, the Son of Man comes. If everyone was going to be ready the Lord would not waste His time telling us to be ready. The parable of the ten virgins recorded in Matthew 25 has no other purpose than to show the saints that they can miss the Rapture. Five were wise, five were foolish. Five went with the Lord, five were left behind. The bible has clearly shown us that Christians can and some will miss the Rapture go through the tribulation and enjoy the second chance that the tribulation will provide. The purpose of the tribulation is not to provide a second chance for lukewarm Christians but this is a means that God will take advantage of. In the Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians we get a beautiful picture of what our Lord expects from His Bride, the Church. It reads; Husbands love your wives as Christ also loves the church, and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish .Our Lord expects to have a clean and holy bride, I don't think that He expects too much, Do you? Live for God, and for Christ and you will not be ashamed when there come a voice. Come Up Hitter Bernard A. Poem~The Healing Goddess~

poem to empower the Goddess in every woman from all walks of life. The Healing Goddess Raw, wild, sensual and primitive to the core She is blessed with rich soil for production Men flock to her shores, thirsting for more But hers is the soil not used for reproduction She is long gone before each reckless dawn Aware that seeds received are unhealthy for spawn Proudly lifting her chin to welcome the Night The Day would always paint her with unjust light She is the social light in a world of ignorance Created to keep Nature's glitches in a sort of balance She is the embodiment of the healer in every woman To nurture the mentally ill, she is the sacred plan She is the sacred feminine in Kali, Durga, Laxmi She is Ishtar, Hera, Venus, Isis, Aphrodite Woman, Princess, Empress, Queen on a throne She is the Sacred Whore in maiden, mother, crone Brazen, and sassy, she is a man's plaything She is brimful of ecstasy spilling for a fling Always at the ready to play games of lewd Unlike holier-than-thou-women, she is the mood She stands tall as she sheds her luscious gown Although vulnerable she will continue to stick around When society is ready to cut her some slack Whore disappears... and Goddess makes a come back
An Open Letter from a Witch: I am a witch. I do not worship Satan; I am not interested in Satan. Satan was invented by the Christians. Satanism is a form of Christianity. I am not a Christian. I don't go to church on Sunday. Jesus is NOT my savior. He was simply a holy man who lived 2,000 years ago. I am not afraid of going to Hell because I don't believe in Hell any more than I believe in Satan. I believe in reincarnation; that I will come back to this world or another and live out another life. I am not evil. Telling people I am a "good witch" or asking me if I am a good witch implies that there are evil witches. There are evil people in the world and there are people who chose to work with the forces of nature in a way that harms others; those people are NOT witches. The central law of being a witch is: "if it harms none, do as you will." Please don't ask me about sacrificing cats or desecrating churches. I love my cats! And I don't go into churches or synagogues unless a friend from that religion invites me to some special occasion. And if I DO enter a church, I am not struck by lightning. If a Christian or a Jew or a Buddhist came to a pagan ritual, our gods would not strike them dead either. Isn't that something to think about? Wearing a pentacle is no different than wearing a cross, crucifix, or Star of David. If you want me to take off the symbol of MY religion (and Wicca is a religion, protected by the same First Amendment rights as other religions) because it's offensive, you need to make everyone of every religion do that. The five points of the star signify the four elements of Earth, Air, Fire & Water, and the fifth point is Spirit; encircled by the World. How that can offend anyone boggles my little pagan mind. An image of a tortured, dying man is more offensive, yet thousands of people openly wear crucifixes every day. Please don't ask me if I'm in a "coven" in that half-horrified, half-fascinated tone of voice. If I want to talk about my coven, I will bring it up. If I am a solitary practitioner, I have no coven to discuss. In any case, our rituals have candles, food, drink, poetry, dancing...yes, there is a knife but it only cuts the air, not anyone's flesh. I don't drink blood. I am not some kind of vampire. I wear black because it keeps negativity away and to tell the truth...it looks better on me than pink, orange and purple polka dots! If you want to ask me something related to MY religion, ask me when the next full moon is. Or the next blue moon Or what a blue moon IS! Ask me about herbs. Crystals, Healing, Even ask me to make you a love potion. I don't cast spells on other people and I won't cast a spell on you to make you prettier, thinner, more desirable. I won't cast a spell on your quarry to make him/her love you. Trust me, you don't want that, you don't want the Karma that involves and neither do I! That's a form of manipulation, taking away someone's power, infringing on their free will. Not nice at all. I also won't cast a binding spell to make someone STOP doing something to you. Spell work is about co-creation. A witch works with universal energy, with the gods, to tilt the engine of probability somewhat. Need money? Don't try to ensorcel your boss to give you a raise. Simply ask the universe to increase the flow of abundance in your direction. That infringes on NO ONE's free will. Giving me a book about the Burning Times is like giving a book on The Holocaust to a Jewish person. It's not funny and is rude! Yes, I do go to Salem, but not because any of those poor executed people were witches(the jury is still out on some of them), but because there's cool pagan shops there. If there were cool pagan shops in a town called East Cow flop, I'd go there as well! Don't try to make me ashamed of who I worship and what I am. Please don't try to convert me or "save" me. Don't throw holy water on me. Don't leave little pamphlets on my desk or windshield. I don't need to be saved. Witches are proud of the fact that we don't recruit people to become witches. We simply ARE and those around us see how we think, how we act and our inner peace and only when someone says "how do I become a witch?" do we take them into the fold with us. I will NEVER leave a religious tract with anyone. I don't have one, unless you count this letter. I am not asking you to convert. I am only asking you to please understand. If you don't want to understand, well then just leave me alone. ~Author unknown~ BLESSINGS
