Honor Indian Treaties

The Canandaigua Treaty of 1794 promised the Seneca Nation of Indians the right to live freely, without outside interference. But today, this right is being threatened by politicians in Albany, New York, who would willingly violate Indian treaties and impose illegal taxes on the Seneca Nation. This has happened before from Albany. Fortunately, every previous New York Governor rejected this thpe of cheap politics and instead preserved Indian rights, and respected the Seneca Nation and said "No" to illegal taxation. If this were just about respecting Indian rights and treaties, that would be enough. But it's more than that. The Seneca Nation contributes $1.1 Billion to the Western New York economy and supports more than 6,300 jobs. This makes the Nation one of the strongest economic engines in the region. Respecting treaties, honoring a Nation, acting with intergrity and growing the Upstate economy. Every Governor in New York State history followed this path. New York State Governor Paterson please follow the historical path of every other New York Governor. Honor the treaties. Respect the Nation. The following was placed in the Rochester D en C by the Seneca Nation of Indians.
