I'm a trained piercer, and no, I don't currently work in a shop. I believe passionately in body modification as an art form, even though it's one that is often misunderstood, abused, taken for granted, and by many, shunned completely. It is admirable that a person would accept a moment of pain for the sake of self expression. To the classical artists, the human form was a thing of beauty. To a body artist, it is the ultimate canvas. A master of this art can look at a body, take in it's uniqueness, the curve of the jaw, the shape of the brow, the size and position of the lips, and skillfully place a piece of jewelry or a bit of ink so that it amplifies the beauty it is set in. The wrong piercing or tattoo, or a poorly placed one, would not do this, that is why it is an art. I currently wear 00g plugs in my ears and have eyebrow, tongue, and two vertical labret piercings.
