What are you waiting for?
As some of you know, I watch my 22 month old nephew during the day, Monday thru Friday. It gives me a little extra cash and keeps me close to him. What some of you may not know is that he is a friggin GENIUS. He has had a little trouble developing his vocal skills, but he knows some words and always gets his point across. But he also knows some sign language. He can't say "I love you" or I love you, too" when someone says it to him, so I taught him how to sign it, and now he gets to say it to his mom and dad as they leave for work or when they tuck him in at night, whenever he wants. He has also begun seeing people out. When his parents go to work or i leave for the day, he walks us to the door, stands there and watches us leave, blows us a kiss, yells "Bye!" and signs, I love you. then he closes the door. He makes his own breakfast. If we have waffles, he places them in the toaster and pushes the button down, and then knows not to touch it because it's hot. If we have scrambled eggs, he scrambles them with a fork in a bowl, mixing the egg and milk together. He knows how to call in the dog, or when to call her if food is dropped on the floor. At lunch, if something is being microwaved, he pushes the button to start it up. No matter what you're doing, he insists on helping. He is an incredible little guy. He even takes ME for walks. He'll take my hand, walk me outside, then to the end of the driveway, then decide if we're going left or right. If he picks right, he takes me to the store where we stroll around for a while and waste time together, looking at toys, picking out lunch, etc. If he chooses left, we go to the park so he can play on the playground. He KNOWS how to get to these places. I told his mom, if he ever gets out of the house unnoticed, those are the two places to look, because he's got his directions DOWN. I love that boy. But sometimes he's just too damned independent already. LoL
