Shield of Darkness
I feel so all alone and hurting
So afraid to let myself go
To be free to trust and love
My minds a whirl of random thoughts
Where to find that someone special
Try as I might to keep it locked away
The feelings are too powerful
They seep out ever so slowly
My heart and soul aches with pain
The wanting to be desired so great
How can one learn to trust
When all they know is deceit
People touch parts of me
No one gets to see all of me
The scars can barely cover
The wounds are too many
Darkness is an old friend
That shields what is hidden
