Ok... Most of you know I have children! I need some honest up front opinions... I am a big girl I can take it!
I took my 11 year old son to school today as I normally do. Coty is a sweet kid...but reactive immediately to any type of distraction. This is the last day of school for the school year...phew and he passed!
Today, at around 8:30 am, I get a call from the school secretarty telling me I need to come to the school to pick up my child. She said he had "stabbed" another student in the leg with a pencil.
SO,,,, I am flying like a bat out of hell to the school about 10 miles away...wondering what on earth has happened...whats going on..OMG!!!!! I was in a state of mind I have never been in before.
I walk in to the building, there sets Coty and the other child and a pissed off mother...(lawyer, I might add). And I and my son go into the office. My Child has had problems all year with this boy, we have reported him more times than I can count. I asked the principal why they were not separated. She said that it was a substitute teacher and that she didn't know who was supposed to be together and who weren't. Shouldn't there be a list for each class?
Anyhow, the two were setting at a table..not at desk but a table across from one another,,the boy had called my son names and kicked him...my son had reported it to the supstitute teacher and she did nothing. So...my son put a pencil in the laces of his shoes pointing out the front! When the boy kicked him again he got jabbed by the pencil. When I seen the wound it looked like a long scratch!
MY QUESTION:
Who was at fault, and how should I have handled this... I was terrified for my child...thinking he had really hurt some one!
What type of punishment should I give?
Please be as blunt as necessary, I really need advice on this one!
