How many times can one man die

Look of disappointment in all their eyes

How many times can he stand up again

Much harder now than it seemed then

How many times can he watch love go

He  blames it on the tide's ebb and flow

How many times can he choose the right

When darkness seems easier than the light 

Everyday She stares at his shell of a smile

Couldn't walk in his shoes; even for a mile

The man stands up for a final kiss 

She pretends to stumble making sure to miss

So he's left alone, just an empty shell

No one seems to notice but he's lost his trail 

So what do you say, when he questions why

Do you wipe the tears from his eyes

What you do is turn your head away

What you choose not to see, cannot stay

Weakened knees, hollow chest, you said goodbye

The world spinning around me, I'm still

People look familiar, I'm numb

Knowing to move forward, going through the act

Minutes turn into hours, where am I

Looking for the way back to life

Learning to stand again, always learning

Eyes of pity surround me, can't reflect

Arguing with myself, always battling within

A brain that works so well, so broken

Kill the pain, kill the thoughts, end this

Stuck in a hamster wheel, running

Looking for you, searching, you're gone

Alone again, loneliness is an old friend

Tangled in memories, confused by lies

Her words had no base, no foundation, empty air

Where did I go, where have I been

You love me, so easily walked away

Can't breathe, can't see, spinning

No point to this, no point in living, giving up

A world looks, a world judges, my world crumbles

Stepping back, no point in standing, a free fall

Goodbye to love, goodbye to trying, no will

If only you weren't afraid

Afraid of what could be

If only I were more patient

And waited for you to see

If only we could forget

The harsh words muttered tonight

If only I could have stopped and ended our fight

If only I had listened to what you were trying to say

If only you had listened to your heart and not your brain

There's a million if only's a million more regrets

But the one that haunts me

The one I'll never forget

It has stood the test of time

An if only tried and trueIf only you had loved me the way I ended up loving you
