Well, I was given some tickets to the Chevrolet 350 race last night and the race was at Texas Motor Speedway. I wasnt sure I'd like it and have only been to the races once as a young kid. I kinda had a fear of a bunch of toothless hillbillies drunk off their asses making fools of themselves. To my surprise, it was quite the opposite. Lots of business men and women, kids and regular folks were there. I also wasnt sure if I'd like watching trucks run in circles all night...It was DAMN cold. I got some decent tickets and could see most of the track. I sat right in front of the pits, and got to see Emmit Smith and his wife. Kinky Friedman (running for Texas govenor) had a truck out there too. It was pink #1...I got a kick out of that...a pink kinky one.. LMAO!! Anyway...I was freezing my ass off and was miserable until the Emmit says...start you engines! The sound coming from those trucks was incredible! They were fairly quiet and I didnt understand why people were putting in ear plugs and crap until they got the first acutal lap. OH MY GOD!! The ground was shaking and the noise was awesome! I am hooked now. I cant wait to go again. The smell, sound and excitement of the whole thing is indescribable. I have never experienced anything like that before. I am definately a race fan now and look forward to going to more races in the future. My favorite truck was the Chevrolet sponsered by Jack Daniels...wouldnt you know it...that was the truck that took the win. Clint Bowyer was awesome and really showed us all what a Chevy and a determined person can do on a track. For anyone that has a bad vibe about racing, let me tell you...put your thoughts and inihbitions aside, and GO. You will not regret it. One of my other favorite things about the races...margaritas!!! I love em and I drank a ton of em. A lot of people were wasted, but it made everything that much more interesting and fun.
