What are you waiting for?

My Dear Friend Rhonda

4 years ago I logged on here to see posts from a couple of your other closest friends voicing their sadness & pain at your sudden and untimely passing. It didn't seem real, and it still doesn't in some ways. But I know that's just because none of us that knew you WANT for it to be real. But sadly, we know that it is very much reality. You probably never realized just how much I appreciated your friendship even from long distance over the years as we became closer friends. No matter what you were dealing with health wise, how you were feeling, you just NEVER seemed to complain one word when we would talk. Instead, you ALWAYS were asking me how I was, what was going on with me, or how my family was along the handful of years recently when you knew I've had a lot of health issues and loss within my own family. No matter day or night, you were a simple text away and I think & hope you knew that I was as well any time you ever needed it. The absolute definition of a true friend, is what you were. I still marvel at how kind, loving, caring, nurturing you were to EVERYONE. Whether they be family, friend, a complete stranger, or even those who you didn't particularly care for as people because of how they had treated you or how they acted towards others. NEVER seeming to have one negative word about anyone. And always believing that there was good any every person, and you always wished the best for them. That's a level of selflessness, love, kindness and genuineness that I can honestly say I can never reach. Yet, to your eyes, you felt that I was. I would do my best to try and pick your spirits up and make you smile or laugh through a text or Facebook post, and yet you ultimately ended up doing so for me far more often. Then, I look at a lot of what is happening in this country and the world today...so much selfishness, greed, racism, and down right HATE. My ultimate conclusion that I can come up with is that what we need is, more people like YOU. More people to follow in the footsteps of how you lived your life treating people as equals. So what I really want to say is...THANK YOU, Rhonda. THANK YOU for being the loving, caring, selfless, strong, nurturing, beautiful woman that you were. THANK YOU for being one of my dearest and realest friends I've ever had in my life. For always being there any time a kind word or laugh was needed. For treating me like I was as important as family to you. And for showing myself and all of us how we should be treating our fellow mankind. I love and miss you greatly, as I know that all of your family and other friends do. I'll forever cherish and be thankful for getting to see you one last time just 2 months before your passing for a lunch that lasted 3 hours because we got swept up in conversation sitting at TGI Friday's lol. The only solace is knowing that you're no longer in pain, and you're looking down over all of us from Heaven. And if I'm lucky enough to have you as one of my line of guardian angels, I can think of nearly no better choice. Rest In Peace Rhonda, pain free and with your undying spirit.
