PokeCheckYOU's blog: "MUSIC"

created on 12/05/2007  |  http://fubar.com/music/b164237
I have had a question in lingering for many years, one of those I think about randomly but never thoroughly, I'll get to it one of these days. Well, that day has come. One Band (Artist), One Album (CD), One Song (Track). At first I thought of just a Song. Then I played the Album in my head. Nope, Song first doesn't work. I need a complete Album, from beginning to end, one of those miraculous compilations that works from beginning to end. One so complete that I never start on any Track other than 1 and I would never, could never, skip any Song and will listen until the journey is complete. With that out of the way, now what? As I go through the library of my life I find many masterpieces. Sublime-40oz. to Freedom, Rush-2112, Eric Clapton-Slowhand, Little Feat-Waiting for Colombus, Fleetwood Mac-Rumours, Styx-Paradise Theater, Black Sabbath-Master of Reality, Men at Work-Business as Usual, Supertramp-Breakfast in America, Santana-Abraxas, Red Hot Chili Peppers-Uplift Mofo Party Plan, Pink Floyd-The Wall, Yes-Fragile, J. Geils Band-Freeze Frame, Yaz-Upstair's at Erics, Love and Rockets-Express, King Diamond-Abigail, Scorpions-Blackout, Dire Straits-Money for Nothing, Social Distortion-Social Distortion, Outkast-Speakerboxx/The Love Below, Grateful Dead-Europe '72, Steely Dan-Aja, Led Zeppelin-Physical Graffiti, Jimi Hendrix-Electric Ladyland, The Beatles-Abbey Road, Metallica-Master of Puppets, Frank Zappa-Apostrophe', Phish-Rift, AC/DC-Highway to Hell, Van Halen-1984, Talking Heads-Remain in Light, Jane's Addiction-Ritual De La Habitual, Primus-Pork Soda, Bob Marley and The Wailers-Legend, Fishbone-Truth and Soul, OKAY-You get the point by now. It just took me 2 hours to type all of that, I had to listen to each one mentally while I thought. So, What is your "One"? Post yours here. Oh, Mine? Well, as much as it could have been any of the aforementioned, or it could have been The String Cheese Incident, Cake, Judas Priest, Nine Inch Nails, The Residents, Negativland, Crack The Sky, The Butthole Surfers, Johnny Horton, The Reverand Horton Heat, The Doors, Dixie Dregs, Jethro Tull, or even The Knack. It's only ONE. I have to choose ELO. Yes, Electric Light Orchestra. The Album? Out of the Blue. And the Song? Mr. Blue Sky. As a complete Double Album Bonanza of emotions, melodies, and artwork that I acquired in my early youth, the intimacy that I had with this Album, these Songs, this Track, are unsurpassed through all I have been through, through all I have experienced, through all the I have heard, felt and loved. Call it what you will. That is my TOP 1! Now, what's yours?
