No Man's Land

John Michael Montgomery - No Mans Land via Noolmusic.com
That house on the hill is long gone Now she's living in a trailer with an Astroturf lawn Got three little kids and no one to help Trying to be Momma and Daddy all by herself It's hard to hold down the fort when you're holdin' down a job She'd rob Peter to pay Paul but he's already been robbed She gets the food on the table and the clothes off the lines She'd break down and cry but she doesn't have time She got to be strong, life goes on Though it's nothin' like she had planned She's gonna be o.k. gonna find a way Living in no man's land Every now and then late at night She thinks of how it would feel to hold someone tight And there's a guy down at work he keeps callin' her up But she ain't ready for none of that stuff She's still sifting through the ashes of a love that's been and gone Looking for a clue, trying to find out what went wrong It ain't always easy, but she knows she's gotta try Every time she looks into her babies' eyes She got to be strong, life goes on Though it's nothin' like she had planned She's gonna be o.k. gonna find a way Living in no man's land She got to be strong, life goes on Though it's nothin' like she had planned She's gonna be o.k. gonna find a way Living in no man's land No man's land

She Didn't Have Time

He said goodbye from the edge of the porch Like she'd been some casual friend He said "You're better off without me, I'm not what you need" like her momma had said about him He started the car pulled out of the drive didn't waste anytime lookin back She watched him go thinkin even a stranger would show more compassion than that [Chorus:] She could've cried but she didn't have time She had a baby to feed, a pink blanket to find, to rock their little one to sleep She could've laid in bed for hours giving misery the power But she didn't have time She got a sitter and she got a job 'cause she had a promise to keep Her day was a factory and evenin survival and night was exhaustion and sleep Sometimes she felt life was passing her by and watching was all she could do Her friends said "You gotta get outta the house and maybe you'll meet someone new" [Chorus:] She could've tried but she didn't have time She had a five years old to feed, she had ballet class, piano lessons and t-ball little league She could've laid awake for hours giving lonely nights the power But she didn't have time Not time, where would she find the time to trust a man again Not time, for that flat tire, a crowded parking lot and then, Not time, but yes have coffee with the man that got her tire fixed She was thinking "Gosh, he's handsome" When he asked "Do you have kids?" She could've lied but she didn't have time, all she said was "She's five" He said "I saw the car seat, I love kids, does she have your eyes" And they sat and talked for hours givin destiny its power She could've been afraid to fall in love that night But she didn't have time She could've been afraid to fall in love that night But she didn't have time

Somebodys Hero

She's never pulled anyone from a burning building She's never rocked Central Park to a half a million fans, screaming out her name She's never hit a shot to win the game She's never left her footprints on the moon She's never made a solo hot air balloon ride, around the world, No, she's just your everyday average girl (but) She's somebody's hero A hero to her baby with a skinned up knee A little kiss is all she needs The keeper of the cheerios The voice that brings Snow White to life Bedtime stories every night And that smile lets her know She's somebody's hero She didn't get a check every week like a nine-to fiver But she's been a waiter, and a cook and a taxi driver For twenty years, there at home, until the day her girl was grown Giving all her love to her was her life's ambition But now her baby's movin' on, and she'll soon be missin' her But not today, those are tears of joy runnin' down her face She's somebody's hero A hero to her daughter in her wedding dress She gave her wings to leave the nest It hurts to let her baby go down the aisle she walks right by Looks back into her mother's eyes And that smile lets her know She's somebody's hero Thirty years have flown right past Her daughters' starin' at all the photographs Of her mother, and she wishes she could be like that Oh, but she already is She's somebody's hero A hero to her mother in a rockin' chair She runs a brush through her silver hair The envy of the nursing home She drops by every afternoon Feeds her mama with a spoon And that smile lets her know Her mother's smile lets her know She's somebody's hero

Help Somebody

Well grandaddy was a hillbilly scholar, blue collar of a man... He came from the school where "you didn't need nothin' if you couldn't make it with your own two hands" He was backwoods, backwards, used words like: no sir, yes ma'am, by god, be darned, hell yeah I'm American.. and all the years he walked this earth I swear all he did was work. He said the devil dreams on an idle horse so you listen to me squirt.. Don't get too high on the bottle, and get right with the man. Fight your fights, find your grace and all the things that you can't change, and help somebody if you can Now Granny said sonny stick to your guns if you believe in something no matter what cause it's better to be hated for who you are Than be loved for who you're not. She was 5 feet of concrete New York born and raised on a slick city street. She'll cold stare you down, stand her ground, still kickin' and screamin' at 93 I remember just how frail she looked in that hospital bed taking her last few breaths of life and smiling as she said Don't get too high on the bottle, just a little sip every now and then, fight your fights, find your grace, and all the things that you can't change and help somebody if you can, and get right with the man Woop Woop I never let a cowboy make the coffee yeah thats what Granny always said to my Grandad and he'd say, never tell a joke that ain't that funny more than once and if you wanna hear God laugh, tell Him your plans Don't get too high on the bottle, get right with the man, son. fight your fights, find your grace, and all the things that you can't change and help somebody if you can and get right with the man and get right with the man

Miss being Mrs

I lie here all alone In my bed of memories I'm dreamn' of your sweet kiss Oh, how you loved on me I can almost feel you with me Here in this blue moonlight Oh, I miss being Mrs. tonight Like so many other hearts Mine wanted to be free I've been held here every day Since you've been away from me My reflection in the mirror it's such a hurtful sight Oh, I miss being Mrs. tonight Chorus Oh, I miss being Mrs. tonight Oh, and how I loved them loving arms That once held me so tight I took of my wedding band And put it on my right hand I miss being Mrs. tonight Repeat Chorus Oh I miss being Mrs. tonight

Que Sera Sera

When I was just a little girl I asked my mother what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here's what she said to me: Que sera sera Whatever will be will be The future's not ours to see Que sera sera When I was just a child in school I asked my teacher what should I try Should I paint pictures? Should I sing songs? This was her wise reply: Que sera sera Whatever will be will be The future's not ours to see Que sera sera When I grew up and fell in love I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead Will there be rainbows day after day? Here's what my sweetheart said: Que sera sera Whatever will be will be The future's not ours to see Que sera sera What will be, will be Que sera sera...

Your time has already come and I don't know why. The last thing that I had heard you were doin' just fine. It seems like just yesterday I was laughing with you, Playing games at Grandma's house. Well you taught me well, didn't you? I hope I'm just like you. And do they have radios in heaven? I hope they do. 'Cause they're playing my song on the radio And I'm singing it to you, I'm singing it to you, you, you, you. You left before I had a chance to say goodbye. But that's the way life usually is, it just passes you by. But you can't hold on to regrets and you can't look back. So I'll just be thankful for the times that I had with you. I hope I'm just like you. Well, do they have radios in heaven? I hope they do. 'Cause they're playing my song on the radio And I'm singing it to you. I'm singing it to you. If they don't have radios in heaven Well here's what I'll do: I can bring my guitar when my time is up and I'll play it for you. I'll play it for you you you. Tell me can you hear me now? (Tell me can you hear me now?) If not, then I can try to sing real loud. What's it like up on the other side of the clouds? I hope I'm just like you. I hope I turn out to be as good as you. And do they have radios in heaven? I hope they do. 'Cause they're playing my song on the radio And I'm singing it to you. I'm singing it to you. If they don't have radios in heaven here's what I'll do. I can bring my guitar when my time is up and I'll play it for you. I'll play it for you you you.
