Movie Kraken

Kraken- Tentacles of the Deep 2006 Director: Tibor Takács Writers: Nicholas Garland (co-writer) Sean Keller (written by) Actors: Charlie O'Connell ... Ray Victoria Pratt ... Nicole Kristi Angus ... Jenny Cory Monteith ... Michael Jack Scalia ... Maxwell Odemus Aleks Paunovic ... Ike Nicole McKay ... Kate Michal Yannai ... Sally Mike Dopud ... David Emy Aneke ... Principal Elias Toufexis ... Keith Christa Campbell ... Emily Nene rating :5 (on a 1-10 scale) I wasted $4 renting this dumb movie and It totally sucks. The special effects looked cheap and cheesy. The characters were not easily relatable. The basic plot of this movie is this. Ray watched the Kraken kill his parents when he was a boy. When he is grown he wants to seek revenge on the giant squid. He teams up with an archeologist names Nicole to try to find the thing while she searches for the treasure the kraken is guarding. I’m not too sure why I picked up this dumb movie It looked dumb and after seeing it I wish I had left it on the shelf. Don’t waste your money on this film.

Surf's Up

Movie Reviews Surf’s Up 2007 Nene Rate: 10 Genres: Action/Adventure and Comedy Running Time: 1 hr. 25 min. Release Date: June 8th, 2007 (wide) MPAA Rating: PG for mild language and some rude humor. Distributors: Sony Pictures Releasing, Sony Pictures Releasing International U.S. Box Office: $58,867,694 Cody is a teenage penguin who wants to be a champion surfer. When he was a baby, he met a champion surfer named Big Z. Big Z became Cody’s idol. One day a talent scout came to Cody’s town looking for surfers for a contest. Cody goes to Hawaii for a big surf contest. The animation is great and I always like how these stories have morals. And for some reason many of these animated stories involve a child who has been orphaned by one of his parents as with Bambi, Dumbo, Finding Nemo, and many other movies. Cody’s father died when he was young so it is only natural that he would seek out a father figure like Big Z. Cody is a very relatable character. He is a bit of a brat and doesn’t seem to like anyone but he’s cool. He lashes out at authority figures and dances to his own drum. I find it interesting how the characters relate and transform in the movie. How Cody learns to accept authority and learns that everyone is not what they appear to be as his fantasy of his idol is completely shattered and he learns that he is a regular guy. The mentoring of Big Z towards Cody is reminiscent of how Mr. Miagi in Karate Kid mentored Daniel. Petty unorthodox, but he teaches him to do what he is told and how to be a champion surfer. I think Cody and Big Z also learn that winning isn’t everything and that relationships are what truly matter. Other movies like this: Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, Charlottes’ Web .

Hostel 2

Janean’s Movie Reviews Hostel Part 2 Presenter: Quintin Tarantino Directed and Written By: Eli Roth Actors: Lauren German, (from The Texas chainsaw massacre, Bijou Phillips, Bully), and Heather Matarazzo (from Welcome To The Dollhouse) Nene rated it : 10 Basically like the first hostel. Young college students from the U.S. are backpacking through Europe and get lured to a hostel in Slovakia by a beautiful woman. The difference is this time it’s beautiful, rich young women who get lured. Rich business men bid on the right to come torture and kill these victims. This film spends a lot more time on characterizations, where the first one didn’t. you actually get to know the characters both victims and killers and see why they are all doing what they are doing. You actually feel sorry for the girls as they get tortured and killed because you get to know them a little. Of course, you never feel sorry for the bad guys, but you come to more understanding of why some of them want to torture and kill people. Of course as always there is one who escapes and it is really cool to watch. I don’t want to give away too much, so I won’t tell you that. But you feel victorious with the character when they escape and of course you know they will need a lot of therapy when they get home. If you like blood, guts and gore, this one is for you. If you are sensitive about people getting tortured and killed, don’t watch it, you will get sick to your stomach. Definitely a good slasher flick. Additional Thoughts: This movie definitely makes you think, is this really going on? Are there people who sell the rights to kill people who are traveling? Are we safe anywhere? Maybe when traveling we should stick to the beaten path and not stray to parts unknown, don’t take anything from strangers, and you never know what kind of weirdo freaks you might be meeting. Be careful, there is a lot of this kind of thing going on in the world. We’ve all heard on the news about women getting sold into slavery, prostitution, or killing rings. It does happen. Use caution and good sense when traveling or online or even out in the world. Don’t go with strangers. If you really want to meet someone, meet them in public, bring some friends. Movies Like This One: Hostel, The Hills have Eyes 1 and 2, Saw 1,2,3,4, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween.
