Pet peeves on fu

Yes, fubar is fun, addictive...

BUT here are my lil' PET PEEVES. (Disclaimer: I mean this in good fun btw)

1. Boobs, LOT'S of them, they crowd my visual landscape that is fubar, scroll across the header. Girls, women, in bras, tops pulled down to their navals. It's a gimmick, a desperate plea for attention. Yeah I have boobs too, but I'm a musician so I'm trying to be taken seriously lol

2. Bling Whores, who trade look see's for virtual bling. All shapes and sizes, ages. Bling packs for cam shows. o.O

3. Parents who put their children in their profile pics, or don't make it private. I have a child but won't post pics. Fubar is adult for a reason.

4. Guys who show their junk. They don't even bother to put NSFW. I have mine checked off, so no I don't want to see. Really.

5. Bands that vote for themselves. Come on...that's cheating...right?

6. People who start drama to start drama

7. Annoying profile updates like: "I'm full of cum, any girls want to see me shoot a load on cam?"

8. Opening lines in my shout box like, "will you barf on cam for me sexy?"

9. People who complain in BOTB that all the bands suck and vote for points not realizing that many of the bands, including myself, really work hard at it, and it's a career.

10. Lastly my pet peeve is that Fubar is addictive, weird, fun and yes a game, but addictive. (Speaking as one with an addictive type personality.) No but really, on the flip side of #9, it's when "bands" take the charts so seriously they're hell bent on being #1, no matter what. It's not Billboard top 100, it's Fubar!

NOTE: Yes...there are others...but I will refrain ;) But as a footnote the best part of Fubar is that it is social even in the virtual realm and one can make friends, and in my case fans. So for that I'm thankful.

Auto-tune was originally intended to disguise "off-key inaccuracies", so vocal tracks can sound perfectly tuned despite being slightly off-key. Ha! Yes well no longer, it has become ubiquitous in pop music (crossing over to rock, r&b, hip hop) it has a sound all of its own. It deadens, flattens, makes the "singer" sound like an automaton, robot, at least to my ears. It can sound okay if it's done for affect, but used more than this, (especially if the singer uses it ALL the time) I will assume the singer either can't sing, or is always off-key. Imagine Janis Joplin using auto tune? Right, not a snowballs chance in hell. Imperfections, colorings, and inflections that a singer uses...will always win out over a device or a machine.

A rock singer of any merit wouldn't use it. But I've been surprised to hear certain artists like Maroon Five and Chris Cornell do. And yeah...I don't use it. But never say never right? (Though I have put a bit of flanger on my BR vocals or a bridge for affect!) So yeah confession: I hate auto-tune! It's used as a crutch far too often. I suppose in the same way reverb can be used, but ten times worse! Examples of singers who use it too much (Fubar, well that's another story hehe) Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj...

I look at it as a fad that will run its course, that in 30 years will be used again for novelty. Okay. There, I vented. LOL. Now I feel soooo much better...hehe.
