What a Weekend

Well I'm happy to report the my weekend went well. The three-ring circus of family and furniture and more family is over. Friday my in-laws came up from Southern Californa to attend a wedding in Santa Clara. They stopped over to visit and we all went to dinner. Mariko as always was head-over-heels with excitedment to see them. Saturday the new bed arrived, at 10:30 we were outside putting 3 coats of clear finish on the whole bed. Nothing like a Queen Sized, 12 Draw Captains bed to keep you busy. During this we had to tear down and move out the old bed. Managed to vaccum the whole room between beds. Taking the old bed out was a breeze compaired to moving the new bed in. Solid wood is HEAVY. LOL. Before we were done, the bed was about 33-inches tall and we had not even put the topper on the mattress. As 11pm rolled around, we tucked ourselves into our new bed, with new sheets, and new comforter. The one problem I do have is I only stand 5'3" and the top of the mattress is about 4" above my waist. SO now I can't just "fall into bed". SO I find one of my daughters little step stools and that gives me just the lift I need to get onto the bed. My husband jokes he feels like he should be doing carrier landings we are up so high. I have this craving to sing "I'm 5" by Robin the little from from the Muppets. LOL My feet dangle off the bed before they even hit the floor. IT's GREAT!!! Sunday rolls around and at 9:30 am my in-laws show up once again. Man do my legs hurt, the calves don't want me to stand up, and I dont blaim them. SO I fell out of bed, & got dressed to greet the morning. MY father-in-law cut my husbands hair, (as always) and then after about a half hour, he cut my daughters by. She insisted that Grandpa cut her hair. I'm so glad I was not watching, She now has the cutest page-boy haircut. I just prefer her with longer hair. Regardless of how I feel, she looks adorable non-the less. So around noon I send the grandparents back to the hotel to take a nap, dinner is not unitl 5:30 and my daughter needs a nap. The peace and quiet was very nice for a change, and I don't like quiet. My brother-in-law get's lost, and I managed to extend the dinner reservation. The food was great, nice vairety, everyone raved over the Lemon Chicken & the Cha Shu Pork. The evning went off without a hitch. And everone is happy. My brother-in-law's new girlfriend now want's a bed like outs, but he want it to 6 drawers, not 12. The man has no sence of adventure. LOL

What a Day

Can you believe it! Today is my daughter's 4th birthday and my car breaks down. I'm greatful that I was able to drop off my daughter before the car decided to stop working. My 4 year old would NOT have been happy with melted ice cream to share with the class. So I'm 4 blocks away from her school, and a car lengths away from the intersection stop sigh whent the car just turns off. I turn off the radio, turn off the head lights and try to restart the car again, and again, and again, and again... NOTHING. The car would start then turn itself off the moment you let go of the key. I am very greatful for my cell phone. I turn off the car, hit the hazzards and call AAA. Then I call the office then call my husband to get the address for the mechanic's place. The tow truck driver trys to start the car and still nothing. So it's not the battery at least he tells me. So I'm thinking the starter mortor has gone to hell. No, he thinks its the ignition switch. He hooks up the car and off we go to the mechanic. I so love the AAA Plus Milage plan. Once there, I tell my mechanic my car died. And I thank the tow truck driver. About then my husband pulls up, talks with our mechanic and off we go. Husband drops me at work and he heads to work from there. Lucky for me, my office manager is letting me make up the time. So it's get off of work at 4:30, pick up the kid at preschool then swing by my office and grab me to go get the car from the shop. WHEEEEEE what a fun filled day we are having.
Many of you have seen the ads about the movie "the Golden Compass" or maybe you've seen the book. Today a friend from Ikebana school sent me an email asking me to boycott the book & movie because of the authors atheist views. Who cares what the authors views are if the story is entertaining? I read the first book and saw nothing about his views about religion and i look forward to seeing the adaptation of the movie. Enclosed is what I got and what I sent. From my friend: "The Golden Compass" movis is set to premier on December 7, during the Christmas season, and will probably be heavily advertised. This movie is based on the first book of a trilogy by atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God so they can do as they please. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." The movie is a watered down version of the first book and is designed to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie and that the children will want the books for Christmas. The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Kevin Bacon, and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is crucial that we get the word out to warn parents to avoid this movie. Please consider a boycott of the movie and the books. Also, pass this information along to everyone you know. This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie. You can research this for yourself. You can find the following article from snopes.com:http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" that was written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises C.S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia." His motivation for wiring this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis's symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series. Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. He has openly even stated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed." Please pass this on to everyone you know! Families, (particularly children) are in great danger of this twisted mindset!" From me: Sorry, but I've read the 1st book and found it to be entertaining. In the first book there is nothing about religion at all unless is was so vague that it was not worth noting. Since I don't pay attention to the religious views of writers, I just enjoyed the story. His views are just that, his views, and he is free to express them as he sees fit. If I spent all my time analyzing every last little thing I read or watched, I would never have any fun at all. I don't need to know the meaning of life to enjoy life. Please remember, movies are for entertainment, not for the meaning of life. Enjoy them while you can. If Pullman's books upset you, then I suggest you read "the Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe" stories instead. You may find them more to your liking. Happy Holidays!

More Holiday Confusion

It's amazing how one little holiday can make some people happy while others are pissed off. Most view this time of the season as the birth of Christ. When in fact it belongs to the pagans. I've heard it called, Winter Solstice, Yule Tide, & I'm sure there are other names for it. As time has passed we have melded some of the traditions of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa together. But still there are those that feel they are being overlooked or slighted. Some feel that the word "Christmas" is offensive while others take no offense at all. This is the time when there should be peace and love towards your fellow man. When families & friends come together and share. This is not the time to argue that the Menorah is shorter then the Christmas Tree; The Nativity is offensive because it's all white and not some other color. That we should P.C. The holiday and say "Happy Holiday" instead of "Merry Christmas" or even "Seasons Greetings". This is not the time to force Santa Clause, St Nick, or the many other names he goes by to loose weight and no longer say "Ho Ho Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas". Can't there be at least one month a year where we put down the rocks, guns, bombs, and hurtful words and accept people for who they are and not what they believe is right or wrong.

Holiday Confustions

IT's amazing how much Christmas has changed over the years; how Santa Clause has turned so commercial. As a child I always loved a visit from Santa. He would come to my grandma's house every Christmas and bring each of us kids a little gift out of his sack. It's was a wonderful time of life. Even now when I'm old enough to know it was a friend of the family who brings us a gift, I don't really care. To me Santa Clause is the personification of the Spirit of Giving. After all what does Santa do, but give gifts to all the good little girls and boys. And there is nothing wrong with a little warning of "better be good or Santa will put nothing but coal in your stockings". The winter solstice is about the earth sleeping and preparing for rebirth in the spring. It's a time when everything takes a break, reflects upon the old year and looks forward to the new one.

What a Morning

I'm having a Blonde Moment Morning, I swear. It was so hard to get up, I just wanted to keep sleeping 5 more mins. But I did finally get out of bed. Everything is moving smooth until I can't find my car keys with my work keys attached. Had them last night, just can't find them now. Oh well, so off to preschool we go. Get my daughter dropped off (thank you daddy) and off to work I go. Still no keys to be found. Good thing one of my co-workers comes in earlier then me, I just had her open up the office at 1 min to 8 am. So tonight it's the great hunt for the work keys. LOL See what happens when a blonde washes her hair?
