The One Outfit That All The Celebrities Are Wearing

There's a certain predictability to many celebrity style trends. Some are seasonal — for instance, as excited as we are to see turtlenecks having their moment on the weather-impervious red carpet, they've long been a fall/winter staple. However, others are so suddenly pervasive that you think, Wait a minute, is there a cool-girl text message chain about this? (Also, how can I get in on said chain?) That's how we feel about this bandeau-with-matching-neck-band concept.

We've seen the look on the likes of Kendall andKylie Jenner, as well as the latest famous offspring to become a full-fledged, Chanel-vetted fashion darling, Lily-Rose Depp. What started as a one-off seems like it's become a go-to going-out move for plenty of other celebrities, including Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid.

Opener2 (1)

The look isn't new, as anyone who lived through the '90s can attest: The tube-top-plus-choker was a textbook, no-fail accessorizing move back in the day. (Raise your hand if you still have a stretchy tattoo-esque choker or two in your possession...) But, gradually, the length of our necklaces elongated, and the neck-hugging style started to look a bit passé. Chloe Grace Moretz brought out a choker at the AMAs last Sunday, pairing a silky slip dress with a simple, thin band around the neck. (The barrettes holding back her bangs were an equally nostalgic touch). But what we're seeing more often is yet another variant of the matching set: a wide swath of fabric hugging the neck plus a top that's literally cut from the same cloth, or at least of a very close match.

Depp first turned us onto the trend when she arrived at Chanel's spring '16 show in a colorful tube top in a pattern from the brand's resort collection, accented by a frayed-edged ribbon tied around her neck. Since then, it's made its way stateside, for red carpets and after-parties, alike (and for celebrity cuddling pow-wows). And we couldn't ask for an easier trend to DIY: Take a cue from Lily-Rose and find a ribbon to match your top. Done. For less-crafty types, Onia makes a bandeau top with a neck band that's connected at the back, as doAmerican Apparel and Boohoo.

This throwback trend comes right in time for the holidays, when get-togethers range from casual potlucks to dressier events. Luckily, this style translates to a wide range of settings and eliminates the need for further accessorizing. Ahead, see how a few celebrities have worn it, and get ready to see this all over the party circuit this season.

Boston isn't a fashion hub, yet clothing startup Brass is growing swiftly

Boston isn't an epicenter for fashion, and that's fine with the founders of Brass, a small e-commerce apparel startup with a big goal of offering women designer-quality apparel without the designer price tags.

The founders say the Waltham-based company has been growing despite, and maybe even because of, the fact that Boston isn't known as a fashion Mecca.

Brass launched in September 2014, raised more than $27,000 through a successful crowdfunding campaign in May, and has been growing organically through e-commerce sales of its dresses. The dresses are manufactured by a Chinese factory that also manufactures products for high-end brands such as BCBG Max Azria, Tory Burch and DVF. To date, the company has generated about $140,000 in sales, said Katie Doyle, the co-founder of Brass.

Brass launched in September 2014, raised more than $27,000 through a successful crowdfunding campaign in May, and has been growing organically through e-commerce sales of its dresses.

Doyle said the Greater Boston area is an excellent hub for startups, no matter what the industry.

"The fact that we're fashion sets us apart from the other tech businesses in the area," Doyle said in an interview. "It's helped us establish ourselves a little bit more. I imagine it's very difficult to differentiate yourself when you're in New York City."

Brass, which is run by Doyle and co-founder Jay Hallstein, is now in the process of raising an investor funding round of between $500,000 and $800,000 to raise capital for inventory, marketing and a new hire. The company has been self-funded to date, with about $25,000.

Hallstein, who had been working in apparel production and sourcing for three years, came up with the idea for Brass on a trip to China. She saw high-quality apparel being made at a factory, but the retail price for the clothing was marked up as much as 12 times the original cost to manufacture the products.

"I came back and said there's a real opportunity here to provide the same high-quality clothing but by doing it directly online in a direct-to-consumer model," she said in a previous interview.

A new line of T-shirts will debut this winter, as Doyle and Hallstein continue to focus on consumers' wants and needs.

"We have this idea of helping women build the perfect curated closet, with every single basic you could possibly need," Doyle said.

Brass is one of several apparel startups in the Boston area including Ministry of Supply, Crane & Lion and Brunswick Park.

The Top 16 Wedding Trends For 2016

It's going to be a great year for weddings! We've got the most exciting new ideas for décor, flowers, cakes, music and more.

Metallic Color Palettes

Metallics are surprisingly versatile, says New York City event-planning guru Harriette Rose Katz. “Depending on how and where you bring them into your celebration,” she says, “they can be elegant, whimsical, ethereal or even very natural.” (Think glitzy golds to pop out room decor at a black-tie wedding, copper lanterns at an outdoor reception or on a rustic tablescape.)

No matter the venue or theme, designers across the country say rose gold will show up on everything from rings to table linens. Even the food and drink get in on the trend, with shiny blush icings on desserts and rose-hued cocktails. One metallic that is on the wane, however, is silver.

Hometown Heroes

In a trend that Alison Laesser-Keck of VLD Events calls “the new destination wedding,” couples are increasingly looking for ways to bring in elements of places that hold special memories — no matter where the actual wedding is being held. For example, a couple who got engaged in Paris might bring in vintage street lamps to light the reception, have Edith Piaf songs playing during dinner and use bistro signage for the bar.

“The idea is that you can have guests feel like they’re in Nashville, New York, your alma mater — whatever spot is close to your heart — and enjoying little bits of those places that have brought you joy,” she says.

Lighting Galore

The key to setting a romantic mood? Ambience. “Every couple wants to create a more romantic and intimate environment,” says Los Angeles–based event designer Trish Stevens of Classic Party Rentals. “Wedding lighting is the best — and simplest — way to establish both.” Event designers say they’re using more pendant lights with bare “Edison” bulbs, chandeliers (both vintage and modern) and candelabras to cast a soft glow.

Creative Seating Plans

Couples are moving away from a reception layout based on large round tables, which has a tendency to feel too much like a conference event, and are instead opting for either very long, rectangular tables or a mix of long tables surrounded by smaller square and round tables — all for a more intimate vibe. And lounge areas, complete with comfortable seating options, remain a crucial part of the cocktail and after-party hours.

Just-Picked Flowers

Arrangements that feature both whatever is in season and whatever is local are gaining traction. Sometimes couples request a “wild” look, say Casey Schwartz and Kit Wertz of Flower Duet in Los Angeles. “What they’re after are freshly picked blooms.”

These free-form bouquets and centerpieces often include a mix of big and small blossoms in more than one color, and might use spiky flowers or fruiting vines to serve as exclamation points.

Non-Floral Centerpieces

Potted trees, succulents, ferns, lavender sprigs and decorative leaves (such as magnolia, begonia) are no longer reserved for anchoring flower arrangements — these days they can become the focal point of the décor. Flowering plants and blooming branches (think flowering quince, crab apple or cherry blossom) also work well as creative centerpieces. And a budget-friendly elegant idea is to adorn bare branches with crepe-paper flowers or sparkly jewels.

Glitzy Invitations

“Shimmer, sparkle, glitter — across the board everyone loves high shine,” says Amber Harrison, style expert for Wedding Paper Divas. Warm tones like rose gold and copper are the most requested metallic shades for 2016. And the trend is showing up on stamped and foil-pressed lettering and in shimmery papers.

Funky Fonts

There’s such a strong cultural interest in words and graphics that it couldn’t help but spill over into the world of wedding invitations. “Using multiple fonts on an all-type invitation adds fresh personality,” says Tifany Wunschl of Gourmet Invitations.

His and Hers Cocktails

What better way to give your guests a glimpse of who you are than by serving them your favorite libations? Event planner Alison Laesser-Keck of VLD Events points out that this trend is not only easier on the budget (no more guesstimating for an open bar) but it’s an instant conversation starter.

Gueridon Service

Food stations that were all the rage even up to last year have conceded to the classic sit-down dinner. “But that doesn’t mean guests are stuck in their seats,” says Carla Ruben, founder of New York City’s Creative Edge Parties. To keep things interesting, caterers are bringing back gueridon service, where servers arrive at the dinner table with a cart filled with all the makings for customizable appetizers and desserts — everything from caesar salads, pastas and tartares to gelato, doughnuts and milk-and-cookies.

Perfect Pairings

It’s common to pair wine with food, but “why not cocktails with food?” says Ruben. Some ideas for your cocktail hour: one-bite tacos with margarita shooters; pretzel bites with a local craft beer; caviar spoons and vodka shots; or Italian meatballs with a mini glass of chianti. And for dessert try apple pie with Moscato d’Asti or brownie bites with frozen espresso shooters.

"Naked" Cakes

“Naked” cakes, which are unfrosted (or partially frosted) and simply adorned with berries or fresh flowers, are trending from coast to coast — and at both relaxed receptions and more formal affairs, says Nataly from the Great Dane Baking Company in Long Beach, California.

Brush Strokes

Hand painting is another versatile trend, lending itself to a bohemian vibe or something more luxe and elegant. This is a great way to pick up the motif of your dress or your invitations (especially if they’re also hand painted). Or try it just for the wow factor.

KAITLYN BRISTOWE, SHAWN BOOTH WEDDING PLANS AREN'T FINALIZED

While Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth aren't planning their wedding just yet, they have started to discuss some preliminary ideas. And Bachelorette fans want to know if the couple will air the ceremony on television. Kaitlyn confirmed this week that they are considering it!

"We've talked about it and it seems like it would be fun," Kaitlyn told ET Canada. "I think if we did that we would probably have a little intimate wedding after."

The two are on the same page. Shawn made similar comments over the summer.

"We haven’t ruled out a televised wedding yet but what we definitely want to do is something small and closer with our friends, without cameras," Shawn said over the summer. "So maybe do two separate weddings. We’re not sure. Still stuff we got to kind of figure out."

Kaitlyn Bristowe Shawn Booth Wedding Plans

In fact, it's become clear over the past few months that Kaitlyn and Shawn make a great couple. During their ET interview, they played "The Nearly-Wed Game," a take on the classic Newlywed Game. And they both proved how much they know about each other. They agreed that their first kiss was their most memorable, and that the craziest place they had sex was on an airplane.

"I mean, it was dark," Kaitlyn said. "Everyone was sleeping, we were watching a movie, we were cuddling, it happened!"

Also during the game, Kaitlyn knew that Shawn thought his best physical feature was his hair. And Shawn knew that Paul Rudd is Kaitlyn's celebrity crush. Clearly, these two are challenging the notion that Bachelor couples can't make it work once filming ends.

"If you took 10 normal couples not in reality TV, what's the rate of them working out?" Shawn noted. "It's really the same everywhere you go, online dating, finding someone at the bar."

In fact, Kaitlyn and Shawn's relationship has gotten stronger since the Bachelor finale. They just moved in together in Nashville, and they hope to start planning their wedding next year.

“We haven’t set a date yet,” Shawn said earlier this month. “We’re just enjoying being engaged right now, and we keep letting everyone know that after the New Year, we’re going to sit down and work out some details together. But right now it’s too crazy and hectic for us.”

Here's What You Need to Know If You Want a Nipple Piercing Like Kendall Jenner's

Kendall, Kylie, Bella, Rihanna: It seems like everyone has their nipples pierced except me. But every time I toy with the idea (which I've actually been doing for several years now—don't freak out, Mom), worst-case scenarios of inflamed or atrophied erogenous zones immediately put the "hell no" to that fantasy. That's why I decided to talk to New York piercing pro J. Colby Smith, whose clients include Emma Stone, Zoë Kravitz, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, about pain, unintended side effects, and whether a piercing really can cause your nipples to fall off.

How much do nipple piercings hurt? "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd put it at a 3. Most ear piercings are a 2. The septum is an easy 2, and the nostril maybe a 3. It's the preconceived notions and fear that build up anxiety in people, but once it happens, they're usually like, 'Oh, it's different than I thought.'" [Editor's note: We've heard from multiple sources that nipple-piercing pain is closer to a 6, but with the bonus of a serious endorphin rush.]

Kendall Jenner nipple piercing

How do you care for them? "It's simple: soap and water twice a day. Just wash it gently with your fingers and move the jewelry around a little bit. Some people try to put ointment on it, your friend says do this, the Internet says do that, but really your body does a good job taking care of itself. You just need to help keep the area clean."

What's the healing process like? "It's anywhere from two to six months. And it's not painful that whole time, but the piercings are definitely temperamental. If there's any trauma to them, they're going to act up, especially while they're new. Keep washing twice a day for at least the first two months."

Anything to look for in a piercing place besides the common-sense stuff: permit, gloves, clean equipment, etc.? "Instincts are key. You're taking your shirt off, and that adds another layer of anxiety, so you want somebody that makes you feel comfortable. If you feel creeped out, or if you feel like it's dirty or the dude's a dickhead, you're not wrong. Also, you can be very inexperienced and still have a license. What I usually tell people is when you see someone with a lot of piercings, and you like what they have, ask them where they got it."

What are the main risks? "Nipple piercings can snag on things like sweaters. They can get infected. And your body can reject the foreign object. Everybody has a different anatomy. But for the most part, all piercings are easily tolerated."

How long will a nipple piercing last compared to other piercings? "It's one of the few piercings that's hard to get back after the jewelry has been out. People will come in and say, 'I had my septum pierced for three years, but I haven't worn [jewelry] for ten, and it's no problem.' But someone could have had their nipples pierced for ten years, take the jewelry out for three days, and the holes will then be hard to find."

And what's the process if you want to let the holes close? "It doesn't leave a lot of scarring. We pierce as thinly as possible. I can always kind of see where piercings were, but it's something I think only I would notice. It really doesn't deform the nipples or make them look weird."

How do nipple piercings affect sensation? "I've heard a lot of rumors about sensitivity being lost, but in my experience—and I've been doing this since 1999—I've found that sensitivity is increased in some people. I've never personally met anybody who has lost sensation. I think that's a bit of a wives' tale."

And if you want to breast-feed, will that be a problem? "When you breast feed, a lot of people think it’s like a single spout, but the milk naturally comes out of more than one area. The piercing won't change that. The only thing you’d want to do is take the jewelry out. You don’t want to put that in the baby’s mouth."

Zooey Deschanel reveals her slim post-baby body in bright dress

Zooey Deschanel is looking in great shape just a few months after welcoming her first child, daughter Elsie Otter.

The 35-year-old cuddled up to new husband Jacob Pechenik at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, showing off slim figure in the process.

Zooey looked lovely in a colourful red, pink and black colourblock dress, which was cinched in at her petite waist with a black skinny belt.

The New Girl star also wore black tights tucked into matching pumps with white detail on them, and carried a gold clutch bag.

Zooey wore her brunette locks in a bouffant style and finished off her look with black eyeliner and shiny red lipstick.

Meanwhile Jacob looked suave in a classic black tuxedo with skinny tie and dress shoes.

Bright spark: Zooey Deschanel looked stunning at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday

The actress and the producer welcomed their first child in July and secretly tied the knot in June, before the birth.

A source claimed to Us Weekly earlier this week that Zooey 'converted to Judaism for Jacob,' with a second insider adding: 'They’re loving the baby and marriage.'

Zooey was raised with an open mind by her Roman Catholic mother and her Quaker dad, and encouraged to find her own spiritual path in life.

'My family is liberal. I was raised in the "you can be whatever you want" kind of way. And in the end, I was like, "Eh,"' she has said in the past.

Last month, Zooey appeared on The Today Show and revealed the meaning behind her daughter's unique name.

'We just really loved the name Elsie and we both love otters,' she said. 'They are very sweet and they are also smart. They use tools, they keep their favourite tools. They hold hands while they sleep.

'There are so many amazing things about otters. Who doesn't love otters.'

And Zooey joked of baby Elsie: 'I love otters, she better love otters. We don't know yet because she's only a few months old. But she's going to.'

Following the youngster's birth, her famous mother - who was previously married to Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard - is taking a brief break from her role as Jess Day on New Girl.

It was announced in September that Megan Fox will temporarily be replacing her, portraying a woman named Reagan who rents out Jess's apartment while she is on jury duty.

Jennifer Lawrence goes braless in plunging red tuxedo dress

She knows how to make an impression on the red carpet and Jennifer Lawrence did just that on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old looked incredible as she posed for snaps, going braless in a red plunging tuxedo dress which showed off her long legs at the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 premiere.

The sexy number had large pockets and a leather lapel - and the pretty blonde giggled as she pose with her hands on her hips.

Being one of the faces of Dior, Jennifer Lawrence has predominantly worn the high-fashion designer throughout the Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 promotion tour. But here in Madrid for the photocall, J-Law stepped away from the fashion house in a rare moment.

Best foot forward: A non-stop promotional tour means plenty of impeccable sartorial displays from the Silver Linings Playbook star

Despite how fabulous the young actress always looks in Dior, we do like to see her branch out and she absolutely owned this little red/orange tuxedo dress here by Mugler, showing off her slim pins with the help of the mini length and strappy silver sandals.

Jennifer often opts for fairly neutral hues, but we have to say bright colours suit the actress and it's nice to see her fun and youthful side come out with this more daring sartorial choice from Mugler's spring 2016 collection.

Tuxedo-style dresses have been a big hit this year, with the likes of Kim Kardashian, Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart all working the look, so Jennifer is bang-on trend.

Want to re-create her fabulous outfit? We don't blame you. This fab dress won't be available until next year so in the mean time, see the carousel below for similar pieces on a budget.

Jennifer, who plays Katniss Everdeen in the hotly anticipated movie, teamed the look with a very sexy pair of silver strappy sandals.

She wore her blonde locks in a side parting and worn in a tousled style, keeping her make-up fairly natural for the occasion.

She cosied up for snaps with her co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth as they all enjoyed their moment in the spotlight.

A non-stop promotional tour means plenty of impeccable sartorial displays from Jennifer Lawrence.

The all-star cast are due to make three more stops yet, including New York, Los Angeles and Beijing.

Fourth and final film Mockingjay - Part 2 was premiered first in Berlin earlier this week and the cast are due to slowly bid farewell to the franchise until its UK & US release date on November 19.

The latest plotline tells the story of the war of Panem.

As it escalates to the destruction of other districts by the Capitol, Katniss Everdeen must bring together an army against President Snow, while all she holds dear hangs in the balance.

The movie also stars Natalie Dormer, Elizabeth Banks and Gwendoline Christie.
