I totally agree with Kylie. Even if I weren't a Red Sox fan, knowing the player and the man that Tek is would give him my vote automatically. He prepares for a game like no other unless you count Curt Schilling who has taught him about video preparation and scout reports on pitchers and hitters. He knows the job of catcher better than I dare so any catcher in the major leagues. If you don't know the player he is don't judge by stats alone judge by the fact that the players in general voted him in. They know his quality as well as his value to a team overall. Tek is not only our captain he is the leader and the heart and soul of the Red Sox. His knowledge and his work ethic is unchallenged. All players go thru slumps even our Manny and the famous Arod. TEk broke out of his slump this series as well as Manny. Most all of them do eventually when they are a quality player. The wear and tear on a catchers body sometimes can make their slumps worse. I will challenge you to put Jason up against any other catcher in calling a game and you will find that he knows more about the pitcher he is working with and the hitter they areare pitching against than any other catcher. He also is an example for every child in this nation to strive for his values and his craft. His faith is another contribution to the whole team. The respect he has earned from the players and the fans who know his work has earned him a spot on the ALL STAR TEAM because he is a TRUE ALLSTAR! Mist
Listen up, what Tek does for the team cannot be measured by his stats alone. You have to take into consideration. And the PLAYERS voted in the reserves; to me that says it all. He has the respect of his peers, batting average notwithstanding. Slumps are slumps...they DO NOT define a player's overall ability. I know baseball is a numbers game, but to me it is all about heart and dirtdog playing mentality. That's about as objective as a baseball fan as I can get.
