R.I.P CHARLTON HESTON

Charlton Heston Dead at the age of 84 and will be sadly missed. Photobucket Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing "Ben-Hur" and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the '50s and '60s, has died. He was 84. The actor died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia at his side, family spokesman Bill Powers said. Powers declined to comment on the cause of death or provide further details. "Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life. He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and, of course, for the roles he played," Heston's family said in a statement. "No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession, and to his country." Heston revealed in 2002 that he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's disease, saying, "I must reconcile courage and surrender in equal measure." Publicist Michael Levine, who represented Heston for about 20 years, said the actor's passing represented the end of an iconic era for cinema. "If Hollywood had a Mt. Rushmore, Heston's face would be on it," Levine said. "He was a heroic figure that I don't think exists to the same degree in Hollywood today." The actor assumed the role of leader offscreen as well. He served as president of the Screen Actors Guild and chairman of the American Film Institute and marched in the civil rights movement of the 1950s. With age, he grew more conservative and campaigned for conservative candidates. In June 1998, Heston was elected president of the National Rifle Association, for which he had posed for ads holding a rifle. Heston stepped down as NRA president in April 2003, telling members his five years in office were "quite a ride. ... I loved every minute of it." Later that year, Heston was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. "The largeness of character that comes across the screen has also been seen throughout his life," President Bush said at the time. Heston lent his strong presence to some of the most acclaimed and successful films of the midcentury. "Ben-Hur" won 11 Academy Awards, tying it for the record with the more recent "Titanic" (1997) and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" (2003). Heston's other hits include: "The Ten Commandments," "El Cid," "55 Days at Peking," "Planet of the Apes" and "Earthquake." Heston made his movie debut in the 1940s in two independent films by a college classmate, David Bradley, who later became a noted film archivist. He had the title role in "Peer Gynt" in 1942 and was Marc Antony in Bradley's 1949 version of "Julius Caesar," for which Heston was paid $50 a week. Heston earned star billing from his first Hollywood movie, "Dark City," a 1950 film noir. Cecil B. DeMille next cast him as the circus manager in the all-star "The Greatest Show On Earth," named by the Motion Picture Academy as the best picture of 1952. More movies followed: Most were forgettable low-budget films, and Heston seemed destined to remain an undistinguished action star. His old boss DeMille rescued him. The director had long planned a new version of "The Ten Commandments," which he had made as a silent in 1923 with a radically different approach that combined biblical and modern stories. He was struck by Heston's facial resemblance to Michelangelo's sculpture of Moses, especially the similar broken nose, and put the actor through a long series of tests before giving him the role. The Hestons' newborn, Fraser Clarke Heston, played the role of the infant Moses in the film. Then his greatest role: "Ben-Hur." Heston wasn't the first to be considered for the remake of 1925 biblical epic. Marlon Brando, Burt Lancaster and Rock Hudson had declined the film. Heston plunged into the role, rehearsing two months for the furious chariot race. He railed at suggestions the race had been shot with a double: "I couldn't drive it well, but that wasn't necessary. All I had to do was stay on board so they could shoot me there. I didn't have to worry; MGM guaranteed I would win the race." The huge success of "Ben-Hur" and Heston's Oscar made him one of the highest-paid stars in Hollywood. He combined big-screen epics like "El Cid" and "55 Days at Peking" with lesser ones such as "Diamond Head," "Will Penny" and "Airport 1975." In his later years he played cameos in such films as "Wayne's World 2" and "Tombstone." He often returned to the theater, appearing in such plays as "A Long Day's Journey into Night" and "A Man for All Seasons." He starred as a tycoon in the prime-time soap opera, "The Colbys," a two-season spinoff of "Dynasty." At his birth in a Chicago suburb on Oct. 4, 1923, his name was Charles Carter. His parents moved to St. Helen, Mich., where his father, Russell Carter, operated a lumber mill. Growing up in the Michigan woods with almost no playmates, young Charles read books of adventure and devised his own games while wandering the countryside with his rifle. "What acting offered me was the chance to be many other people," he said in a 1986 interview. "In those days I wasn't satisfied with being me." Calling himself Charlton Heston from his mother's maiden name and his stepfather's last name, he won an acting scholarship to Northwestern University in 1941. He excelled in campus plays and appeared on Chicago radio. In 1943, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and served as a radio-gunner in the Aleutians. In 1944 he married another Northwestern drama student, Lydia Clarke, and after his army discharge in 1947, they moved to New York to seek acting jobs. Finding none, they hired on as codirectors and principal actors at a summer theater in Asheville, N.C. Heston wrote several books: "The Actor's Life: Journals 1956-1976," published in 1978; "Beijing Diary: 1990," concerning his direction of the play "The Caine Mutiny Court Martial" in Chinese; "In the Arena: An Autobiography," 1995; and "Charlton Heston's Hollywood: 50 Years of American Filmmaking," 1998. Besides Fraser, who directed his father in an adventure film, "Mother Lode," the Hestons had a daughter, Holly Ann, born Aug. 2, 1961. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1994 at a party with Hollywood and political friends. They had been married 64 years when he died.

A Soldiers Poem

A Soldiers Poem If I ever go to war Mom, Please don't be afraid. There are some things I must do, To keep the promise that I made. I'm sure there will be some heartache, And I know that you'll cry tears, But your son is a Soldier now, Mom, There is nothing you should fear. If I ever go to war Dad, I know that you'll be strong. But you won't have to worry, Cause you taught me right from wrong. You kept me firmly on the ground, yet still taught me how to fly. Your son is a Soldier now Dad, I love you Hooah, Even if I die. If I ever go to war Bro, There are some things I want to say. You've always had my back, and I know it's my time to repay. You'll always be my daybreak, through all of life's dark clouds, Your brother is a Soldier now, Bro, I promise I'll make you proud. If I ever go to war Sis, don't you worry bout me, I always looked out for you, but I can't do that anymore, Cause I'm a big bro to all in America. I love you so much and you know that, Your brother a soldier now Sis, So wipe your eyes, I'll be fine even if I die. If I ever go to war my Friends, We'll never be apart, Though we may not meet again, I'll hold you in my heart. Remember all the times we had, Don't let your memories cease, Your friend is a Soldier now, Dear Friend, And I'll die to bring you peace. And when I go to heaven, And see that pearly gate, I'll gladly decline entrance, Then stand my post and wait. I'm sorry Sir I can't come in, I'm sort of in a bind, You see I'm still a Soldier Sir, So I can't leave them behind. i tell you what if you are a soldier or know a soldier you better repost this

M&M Urban Legend

MANY AMERICANS BELIEVE THAT CERTAIN COLOR M&M'S HAVE MAGICAL PROPERTIES. THE GREEN ONES ARE THOUGHT TO BE APHRODISIACS. A POUCH OF GREEN M&M'S FOR A BRIDE-TO-BE IS NOT UNCOMMON AT A LINGERIE SHOWER. THE ORANGE ONES HAVE BEEN SAID TO ENHANCE BREAST SIZE. THE BROWN ONES HAVE BEEN SAID TO HAVE AN ADVERSE AFFECT ON THE HEAVY METAL BAND VAN HALEN. IF VAN HALEN SAW A BROWN M&M AT ONE OF THEIR CONCERTS, THE GIG WAS OFF. THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HAD THE POWER TO BRING THE RED ONES BACK IN 1987 AFTER THEY HAD BEEN DROPPED DURING A RED DYE NO.2 SCARE 1976. AND BLUE ONES WERE VOTED TO REPLACE THE TAN ONES IN A NATIONWIDE ELECTION IN 1995.
DID KEVIN SULLIVAN MURDER CHRIS BENOIT and HIS FAMILY? Did Kevin Sullivan Murder Chris Benoit and His Family? By Johnny Angel (Former Pro Wrestling Champion) Now known as Rev. Johnny Lee Clary World-Wide Evangelist Kevin Sullivan (Is he the real killer of Benoit and his family?) The late Chris Benoit and his wife Nancy The tragic deaths of Chris Benoit and his wife Nancy and son Daniel have shocked the wrestling world. The police are calling it a double-murder-suicide, but is it really? Let’s look at some facts. It has been 10 years exactly since Nancy divorced Kevin Sullivan to marry Chris Benoit. In the 1980’s Sullivan, along with his then-wife Nancy, were running a gimmick in wrestling of how they were Satanists, and Nancy was known as “The Fallen Angel.” She later became known as “Woman.” The trouble with the Satanists gimmick was it was for real, and was not a work, or fake. In the 1990’s Kevin Sullivan was the booker for WCW, and he scripted his wife Nancy into having an affair with Chris Benoit who was a member of the Four Horsemen. This made for a good angle, except, the acting became reality as Chris and Nancy actually fell in love and Nancy divorced Sullivan to marry Benoit. Benoit left the WCW to go to work for the WWE which was then known as the WWF. It is a fact that Sullivan threatened Benoit and told him he would kill him. Yes, that was 10 years ago, but Kevin Sullivan is no dummy. He is known for being a calculating, cold-hearted individual. Today, according to a source close to me, Kevin Sullivan is a high ranking member of the Satanic Church. The police need to consider the possibility that Sullivan carried out these gruesome murders in order to have his revenge, which is what Satanists live for. He could have entered the home, with an accomplice or accomplices and held the Benoit’s at gunpoint, Sullivan could have then bound up Nancy, and made Benoit and his son watch as he strangled the life out of her. Then the next day after making Benoit and his son spend the day in agony, murdered Benoit’s little boy because of his hatred for the offspring of Benoit and Nancy. Then he could have made Benoit wait an entire day before killing him to by hanging him in the basement. By doing this, not only would Kevin Sullivan have lived out his Satanic Church creed with his lust for revenge, but he would have destroyed Chris Benoit’s reputation which is what has happened now as the wrestling world is attacking the memory of Chris Benoit remembering him as an insane baby killer and wife killer instead of the great World Champion wrestler and friend that he was. Satanists hate the Bible and the police have stated that a Bible was found next to the bodies of Benoit’s wife and son. This would serve as a bizarre calling card as if to either say “What good did your Bible do you?” or to throw off investigators to keep them from suspecting Sullivan and his Satanists would have been involved. Another thing to note is the fact that Kevin Sullivan was also associated with Sherri Martel, who died just a few days before the bodies of Chris Benoit, and his family was found, and the full details of Martell’s death have not been made known as of the time of this writing. I wonder why the police have not even considered investigating the possibility the Kevin Sullivan killed Benoit, Nancy, and their child. It is certainly a possibility worth looking in to. Also, Benoit was going to be crowned ECW World Champion on Sunday night. Why would he murder his family and kill himself when he was going to be on top again and make lots more money? Why would he tie his wife up before killing her? He would have no reason to, but Kevin Sullivan sure would! Sure he had some problems with Nancy, but that was 4 years ago and what married couple doesn’t have problems? Remember also that they reconciled and as far as everyone knows there has been no other incidents reported. One also needs to consider the fact that Benoit loved his kids and was so proud of his son that was killed. His kids wore suits and ties to his wrestling events and was proud of their dad. He was loved and respected by all those who knew him. In my opinion, there is no way he would have murdered his family. This whole murder case has Satanists written all over it and Sullivan is a Satanist and has the motive to murder them. I am encouraging anyone who reads this to send this to police authorities and circulate it on the internet, so these facts can be investigated, before the case is closed and Benoit is written off in history a murderer. If Sullivan is the real killer, justice should be served! As a former Pro Wrestler myself, now a born again Christian and world wide evangelist, I am hoping and praying for justice no matter who is responsible. Rev. The little boy..(sad story)

The cashier hands this little boy his money back saying "I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll." Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ''Granny, are you sure I don't have enough money?'' The old lady replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.'' Then she asked him to stay there for 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly. The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. "It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for this Christmas. She was so sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her." I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus will bring it to her after all, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly. "No, Santa Claus can't bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there." His eyes were so sad while saying this. "My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.'' My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: "I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall." Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me "I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won't forget me." "I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister." Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. "What if we checked again, just in case you do have enough money?'' "OK" he said "I hope that I have enough." I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: "Thank you God for giving me enough money!" Then he looked at me and added "I asked yesterday before I slept for God to make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mommy can give it to my sister. He heard me!'' "I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.'' "My mommy loves white roses." A few minutes later, the old lady came again and I left with my basket. I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local newspaper article 2 days ago, which mentioned of a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car, where there was one young lady and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-assisting machine, because the young lady would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young lady had passed away. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that this little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him. Now you have 2 choices: 1) Repost this message. 2) Ignore it as if it never touched your heart

Remebering Chris Benoit

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket A look at the career of the "Rabid Wolverine" June 25, 2007The sports-entertainment world has lost a Legend, as WWE is saddened to report that Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their Atlanta-area home today. Benoit was 40 years old. A trainee of the legendary Stu Hart, Benoit began his career in 1985 in Calgary after training with Stu and the Hart Family in the infamous Dungeon. Benoit idolized former World Tag Team Champion Dynamite Kid, and the high-flying style Benoit utilized throughout his career was influenced heavily by the British Superstar. However, his training in the Dungeon helped mold him into one of the best technical grapplers in sports-entertainment history as well. Benoit competed for Stu Hart¡¯s Stampede Wrestling organization from 1985-1989, where he held both the British Commonwealth Title and the International Tag Team Title four times each, before heading to Japan, where his career truly blossomed. He originally competed as the masked Pegasus Kid and had numerous classic clashes with Japanese legends such as Shinjiro Ohtani and Jushin ¡°Thunder¡± Liger. It was in New Japan Pro Wrestling where he also met a man who would become one of his closest friends, Eddie Guerrero. While in Japan, Benoit held the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship and won the 1994 Super J Cup tournament, one of the most prestigious light-heavyweight tournaments in sports-entertainment. It was that same year that Benoit burst onto the scene in the United States. He had competed in the States before, taking part in the NWA World Tag Team Title tournament in 1992 and wrestling briefly in WCW, but it was in South Philadelphia where Benoit truly cut his teeth in America. Benoit joined ECW, where he teamed with another long-time friend, Dean Malenko, to win the ECW Tag Team Championship. It was also during his time in South Philadelphia where Benoit became known as the ¡°Canadian Crippler,¡± as it was during a match with Benoit where Sabu suffered a broken neck. After a year in ECW, Benoit headed back to WCW (and also New Japan, who had a working agreement with ECW at the time). His career elevated to the next level when he became an official member of the Four Horsemen, joining Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman in 1995. During his near five-year stay in WCW, Benoit went from an unknown to household name and bona-fide Superstar. Staying close with the Horsemen through numerous incarnations of the group, Benoit became known for his hard-hitting, smash-mouth, no-nonsense style. His rivalry with Kevin Sullivan throughout 1996 (including their legendary Falls Count Anywhere Match at the 1996 Great American Bash) was lauded as one of the greatest and most intense in the company¡¯s history. While in WCW, Benoit also racked up numerous accolades. He held the Television Championship on three occasions, was a two-time United States Champion and won the WCW Tag Team Championship twice as well (once with Malenko, once with Perry Saturn). He also faced Bret Hart in a tribute match to Bret¡¯s brother and Benoit¡¯s good friend Owen Hart in 1999, and in his final WCW match in January 2000, Benoit defeated Sid to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, trouble in WCW led to Benoit, Guerrero, Malenko and Saturn leaving the company the next day, so the reign was nullified. The foursome, however, debuted later that month in WWE as The Radicalz. Benoit immediately found success in WWE, claiming the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 2000. He would go on to hold that gold on a total of four occasions. Through 2003, he also held the World Tag Team Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship. Finally, in 2004, after nearly 20 years of struggle, Benoit reached the top. Starting the match at No. 1, Benoit lasted over an hour to win the 2004 Royal Rumble Match, last eliminating the mammoth Big Show to win. That earned him a World Championship match, and at WrestleMania XX in Madison Square Garden, he defeated Shawn Michaels and champion Triple H in a Triple Threat Match to claim the World Heavyweight Championship. The celebration is one of the most memorable WrestleMania moments of all-time, as he and best friend Eddie Guerrero (the reigning WWE Champion at the time) embraced in the center of the ring amidst a stream of confetti and the cheers of a raucous capacity crowd. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket In the next three years, Benoit would go on to hold the World Tag Team Championship twice more and had three reigns as United States Champion, the last of which ended just two months ago at Backlash. He was drafted to ECW in the 2007 WWE Draft, and in his final WWE match, Benoit defeated Elijah Burke on the June 19 ECW on Sci Fi. Over the course of his 22-year career, Chris Benoit solidified his reputation as one of the greatest to ever set foot inside a ring. He was a man of few words, but his passion for the sports-entertainment business was almost unrivaled. Whether loved or hated, Benoit was always well-respected by our fans and his peers for his in-ring ability, his trademark toothless grin and his no-nonsense attitude. The sports-entertainment world has truly suffered a loss with his passing, as one of the all-time greats was taken well before his time. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket United States Champion Chris Benoit and Layla spent the second day of SmackDown¡¯s European tour at Two Mile Military Base. The NATO Response Force at the base is responsible for assisting with Darfur deployments in Sudan. One veteran, who just finished a five-year tour and was set to leave, delayed his flight a day so he could stay with his family and meet the Superstars. The base hosts the U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy as well as military for Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy and Germany Canadian Wrestler Chris Benoit Found Dead With Family In Atlanta Monday June 25, 2007 One of Canada's most famous wrestlers has apparently met with a tragic end that also claimed his wife and son. WWE superstar Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and seven-year-old son Daniel were reportedly found dead Monday in their Atlanta home after the 40-year-old grappler missed a house show Saturday night and a Sunday night pay-per-view event. He had travelled home to Georgia for family reasons, but didn't elaborate on what they may have been. Later Monday, local authorities announced they were treating the disovery as a homicide. R.I.P. Chris Beniot 1967-2007 My favorite wrestler that I've ever had the pleasure to watch perform in the ring was Chris Benoit. I've been a fan of his since I was a teenager. I turned on the television to watch Raw this evening, as I do just about every Monday, and learned of the sudden and tragic death of Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and their child, Daniel. I'm not one to throw the word tragic around frivolously, but I feel it's appropriate in this regard. Admittedly, Benoit was probably no longer at the utmost peak of his career, but he could still put on a better match than 99.9% of the performers who are active today. I hope that no one takes this as a joke when I say that I felt as if I had been punched in the gut upon learning of this news and found myself very nearly on the verge of tears. I know this reaction may seem nonsensical to someone that doesn't feel the same way about wrestling. Someone that doesn't watch it as exhaustively as I, myself, do. Yes, it does border on obsessive at times. But keep in mind that, in a sense, I spent time with this man every Monday night for the last 10 years or more. He gave me someone to look up to. If you were to press me into naming someone that I considered a hero, I would more than likely name Chris Benoit. He overcame all odds to climb to the top of his profession. A profession that he loved with every fiber of his being. The only thing he ever placed above it was his family. And, sadly, they are gone as well. He does leave behind two children, who were in Canada visiting family, and my thoughts (and I hope all of those that read this) are with them in this terribly troubling time. As I stated earlier in this post, I was on the verge of tears when I heard the news. As I type this, I'm watching Raw, which has become a tribute show to the life of Mr. Benoit. Included in this are pre-taped segments with wrestlers sharing their thoughts on his life and career. I'm not overstating things when I say that I will more than likely shed a tear or more before the end of this night, especially if they air any segments with people that I know were close with Benoit. Especially if that person is Dean Malenko or Ric Flair. On a final note, I'd like to tip my hat to the WWE and the class that they've shown in canceling the planned three hour Raw. There are no fans in the arena. There are no matches, except those that are pre-taped from the career of Chris Benoit. This is a completely unprecedented move on the part of the WWE, and all I can say to that is this: Thank you. Benoit, born in Montreal, was also known as "Pegasus Kid," "The Canadian Crippler" and the "The Rabid Wolverine" and was widely considered to be one of the stronger technical wrestlers of all time. The WWE immediately announced plans to scrap Monday's scheduled "Raw" event in favour of a three-hour tribute to the veteran of more than 20 years. "We at the WWE can only offer our condolences to the extended family of Chris Benoit," said WWE executive Vince McMahon. "The only other thing we can do at this moment is pay tribute to Chris Benoit." Autopsy results are expected Tuesday. WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family. We will have more information shortly. Our deepest condolences go out to his friends and other relatives. No.... no.... this... I fucking can't believe it. NO. SHIT NO. FUCKING SHIT HELL NO. I'm crying right now. This cannot be happening. Benoit...We love you, Benoit. You're always a champion in my eyes. At least you get to be with Eddie now, right? You and your family will be in my prayers. Thank you for entertaining us throughout your entire career. We, the fans, love you. More than you can imagine. Thank you. Really though... my voice is just... shaking... telling this to my parents. Find peace, Benoit. Nancy and Daniel too. THIS IS TO HIS REMEMBERANCE....FROM ALL OF YOUR CT FANS...WE WILL MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU CHRIS BENOIT.... PLEASE WATCH VIDEOS OF CHRIS BENOIT Chris Benoit Tribue

IT'S A KENTUCKY THANG!

IT'S A KENTUCKY THANG! There are 5,000 types of snakes and 4,998 live in Kentucky. There are 10,000 types of spiders. All 10,000 live in Kentucky plus a couple no one's seen before. If it grows, it sticks; if it crawls, it bites. Onced and twiced are words. It is not a shopping cart; it is a buggy. People actually grow and eat okra. Fixinto is one word. There is no such thing as "lunch." There is only dinner and then there is supper. Iced tea is appropriate for all meals and you start drinking it when you're two. We do like a little tea with our sugar! Backards and forwards means "I know everything about you." DJeet? is actually a phrase meaning "Did you eat?" You don't have to wear a watch because it doesn't matter what time it is. You work until you're done or it's too dark to see. You don't PUSH buttons, you MASH them. YOU KNOW YOU'RE FROM Kentucky IF: You measure distance in minutes. You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day. You use "fix" as a verb. Example: "I'm fixing to go to the store." All the festivals across the state are named after a fruit, vegetable, grain, insect or animal. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked. You know what a "DAWG" is. You carry jumper cables in your car . . . for your OWN car. You only own four spices: salt, pepper, Tabasco and ketchup. The local papers cover national and international news on one page, but require 6 pages for local gossip and sports. You think that the first day of deer season is a national holiday. You find 100 degrees Fahrenheit "a little warm." You know all four seasons: Almost Summer, Summer, still Summer and Christmas. Going to Wal-mart is a favorite past time known as"goin' Wal-martin" or off to "Wally World." You describe the first cool snap (below 70 degrees) as good pinto-bean weather. A carbonated soft drink isn't a soda, cola or coke . . . it's a Pop, regardless of brand or flavor. Example: "What kinda pop you want?" Fried catfish is the other white meat. We don't need no stinking driver's ed . . . if our mama says we can drive, we can drive. You understand these jokes and forward them to your friends from Kentucky (and those who just wish they were). Not EVERYONE can be a Kentuckian, it's an art form and a gift from God!

Fireman's Prayer

Fireman's Prayer

When I am called to duty, God
Wherever Flames may rage
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be it's age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is to late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To pat the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor
And protect their property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
Please bless with your protecting hand
My Children and My Wife

Daddy's Poem

Body: Don't read without tissues because it will make you cry if you have a heart.. Her hair was up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied with a bow. Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she couldn't wait to go. But her mommy tried to tell her, that she probably should stay home. Why the kids might not understand, if she went to school alone. But she was not afraid; she knew just what to say. What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today. But still her mother worried, for her to face this day alone. And that was why once again, she tried to keep her daughter home. But the little girl went to school eager to tell them all. About a dad she never sees; a dad who never calls. There were daddies along the wall in back, for everyone to meet. Children squirming impatiently, anxious in their seats One by one the teacher called a student from the class. To introduce their daddy, as seconds slowly passed. At last the teacher called her name, every child turned to stare. Each of them was searching, for a man who wasn't there. "Where's her daddy at?" she heard a boy call out. "She probably doesn't have one," another student dared to shout. And from somewhere near the back, she heard a daddy say, "Looks like another deadbeat dad, too busy to waste his day." The words did not offend her, as she smiled up at her Mom. And looked back at her teacher, who told her to go on. And with hands behind her back, slowly she began to speak. And out from the mouth of a child, came words incredibly unique. "My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away. But I know he wishes he could be, since this is such a special day. And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know. All about my daddy, and how much he loves me so. He loved to tell me stories he taught me to ride my bike. He surprised me with pink roses, and taught me to fly a kite. We used to share fudge sundaes, and ice cream in a cone. And though you cannot see him. I'm not standing here alone. "Cause my daddy's always with me, even though we are apart I know because he told me, he'll forever be in my heart" With that, her little hand reached up, and lay across her chest. Feeling her own heartbeat, beneath her favorite dress. And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears. Proudly watching her daughter, who was wise beyond her years. For she stood up for the love of a man not in her life. Doing what was best for her, doing what was right. And when she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd. She finished with a voice so soft, but its message clear and loud. "I love my daddy very much, he's my shining star. And if he could, he'd be here, but heaven's just too far You see he was a firefighter and died just this past year When airplanes hit the towers and taught Americans to fear. But sometimes when I close my eyes, it's like he never went away." And then she closed her eyes, and she saw him there that day. And to her mothers amazement, she witnessed with surprise A room full of daddies and children, all starting to close their eyes. Who knows what they saw before them, who knows what they felt inside. Perhaps for merely a second, they saw him at her side. "I know you're with me Daddy," to the silence she called out. And what happened next made believers, of those once filled with doubt. Not one in that room could explain it, for each of their eyes had been closed. But there on the desk beside her, was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose. And a child was blessed, if only for a moment, by the love of her shining star. And given the gift of believing, that heaven is never too far. They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them. REPOST THIS TO SHOW APPRECIATION for the people you'll never forget . It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them. If you don't REPOST THIS, it means you're in a hurry and that you've forgotten your friends. Take the time...to live and love. Until eternity post this as "Daddy's Poem"
