Let me see if I understand this. The jewelry companies tell me that if I buy my girl a piece of jewelry, she will love me for it. Really? For how long? Will it be for a day, a week, a month? And what exactly do I get in return for dropping a couple of grand down on a small ring? A hug, a kiss, maybe some action in the bedroom? I tell you it's not worth it. If a lady wants to show her man she loves him by buying him a gift, she might get him some tools. What's that cost? A couple of hundred at most? And yet I have to spend thousands of dollars on a single item. Which quite frankly is just a trinket. It does nothing. At least with tools or gadgets, they perform a function. They are usefull. Not so with jewelry. Nope, it just sits there and looks pretty. And why do diamonds cost so much? Because diamond companies create a false scarcity by keeping the majority of their diamonds in locked vaults. That's why. And let's not even discuss what it took to dig that rock out of the ground. The pain and suffering of the african men and women involved in the diamond trade is unfathomable. So the next time you're at the jewelry store gazing at all that brilliance, take a moment to reflect on just how good your life is.
