Kuru is a condition much like mad cow disease- found in Papua New Guinea among certain tribes that eat their dead relatives as part of funeral rites.
Now, for the question at hand- let me set the scene....
You're lost in the wilderness with your buddy- GPS and cell dead on batteries, very little food or water and it is the dead of winter. Your buddy keels over from exhaustion, heart attack, whatever.
He is dead.
You're still alive.
You have no weapons, no way to trap food, and the nearest source of water that has fish is miles away.
In order for you to survive you must eat SOMETHING- and there is your dead friend lying in front of you.
Do you partake of his flesh that you may live or die even though a viable source of food is available? |
