We have the Mayor of Detroit using the N-word to describe his biggest competitor in the city council at an address that was broadcast in the metro area.
We have the Governor of NY resigning after finding out he was customer number nine of a high class call girl ring (that’s prostitutes for those of you not savvy enough to know what the code words mean), he ran on a platform of cleaning up the streets and putting an end to prostitution.
We have a woman in the uppers of the Clinton campain saying that Barack wouldn’t have gotten as far in the election processes had he been white.
This has happened in the last 3 weeks, so my question is what the fuck is next?
Are we gonna find out Channy is at the center of some devil worshiping cult that sacrifices inner-city children to some demon so that he can grow new hair?
What is wrong with these people? I mean all the above and all the other politicians that in recent memory who have been at the center of these hypocritical scandals have all be those of the religious following in this country. The only atheist in the senate or the house is Bernie Sanders (not confirmed but very very likely) and not one scandal has come out about him and I’m willing to bet never will.
When you mix religion and politics all you’re doing is asking for trouble.
An atheist or agnostic isn’t going to take away your right to choose (cigarettes, booze, children, marriage)… this isn’t true of all atheist I know a few who are total dicks in this respect but the vast majority of this the lest trusted of all minorities is the most open and accepting of all groups of people. As an atheist I can tell you I have no desire to take away your right to prey at home or even in public (so long as I am not required to do so). I have no desire to take away your right to smoke (so long as you don’t expect me to pick up the habit). I have no desire to take away your right to have an abortion (just don’t except me to want you to have it). I have no desire to tell you where and when you can drink (so long as you aren’t doing it someplace where you can negatively affect me I.E behind the wheel of your car).
Honestly these views are held by the libertarian party, a party we don’t hear enough from.
If you wish to live your life free from the religious pressure of the right, or the pressure of social responsibility from the left, and just want to be free to live and let live… become a libertarian and join our fight for equality for all.
Remember we are a country founded upon the idea of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all; where one individuals rights begin another’s ends…that means all men, women, lesbians, gays, transgender, dry or wet (that means booze drinker or not), stoned or square… so long as your choices don’t negatively affect me why should I choose what you can do? I shouldn’t and that is exactly what our country is about; it’s time the people of this country remember that.
So I urge every one of you to help us take steps away from the theocracy this country is becoming and claim it back for those of us who have the logic and the desire to have it run the way it was intended the way the constitution is written.
