Rob's blog: "Hugo A-Go-Go"

Is Tony Robbins the new Jesus............. While talking to the good people of Fubar I came across someone who had been to one of this guys "shows" turned out on further questioning she was one of his volunteers, or disciples as I would refer to the poor misguided souls. So this got me round to thinking, maybe this guy is the new Jesus, so I looked for evidence and similarities between the two. Both are good talkers............... yep Both project/projected a strong personality.......... yep Both perform miricles*................ yep Both empower the poor through non violet protest...... yep Both live a simple humble life......... nope (not unless you count 18 cars, 5 houses, 2 boats and a helicopter as simple, p.s. those are not in the Bible, if you were wondering which of the two owns them) Both are surrounded by a band of followers who hang on every word... yep Both promise you a better life is you listen to them.......... yep O.K. I am joking, I am sure (but not 100%) not even Tony would think he was Jesus, but I am sure you would agree that they do kinda have the same message. There are a couple more differences, Jesus was not sued by the Federal Trade Commission on charges that he had misrepresented the potential earnings of franchises in his motivational seminars or by Financial seminar guru Wade Cook on the grounds that Tony has lifted concepts and terms from his seminars and his book, Wall Street Money Machine, during the creation of a competing financial course.......... naughty Tony lost both cases, I wonder if his personal empowerment took a hit ? I admit, I have never read one of his books or seen one of the "shows" he puts on, quoting myself "I have seen the crappy advert on the shopping channel does that count" (she told me it did not) so in the interest of a balanced view point and to show I am open to new ideas, I agreed to read a book by him, so off I went to ebay and got me one. I must admit I was shocked to see just how many on offer there were, but thinking about it I worked out why, all those who had read the book were now multi millionaires sitting on tropical islands, and they had got the butler to put the book on ebay for $4 , silly me, what was I thinking. Imagine a doctor urged you to undergo a treatment and encouraged you with tales of successful patients. He failed, however, to mention that the treatment fails with 90 percent of patients like you. You’d sue and win in any court in the land. Yet self-help gurus routinely make similar recommendations without reprisal. For example, haven’t you heard a guru intone that the secret of success is self-esteem, affirmations, or meditation? Or urge you to “dream it and you can do it.”? Or even “Don’t push. When it’s meant to be, it’ll be.” You’re sceptical but gurus seduce you with tales of how they or an acolyte, with a dream and some effort, went from depressed to delighted, rags to riches, dung shoveller to star. What the gurus don’t tell you are the odds. Sure, it worked for their cherry-picked exemplar or for themselves. After all, they were smart, driven, and/or lucky enough to get a book published or to appear on Oprah. The problem is that the typical consumer of their nostrums isn’t as smart, driven, and lucky. The gurus don’t tell you that for every Million-Dollar-Baby success story, there are countless people who bought Guru’s exhortations yet are still mumbling in their beer. I’m now tempted to attend some guru’s introductory workshop designed to up-sell attendees a long (read “expensive”) workshop and ask, “What percentage of your workshop attendees significantly improved their life as a result?” If the guru were honest, he’d probably say he doesn’t know—few gurus are brave enough to validly evaluate their exhortations’ and incantations’ efficacy. next rant, God gets both barrels, Religious types cover your eyes............. p.s. any spelling/grammar errors are the result of me been only really smart at math
Back in the mists of time i was a schoolboy, and every schoolboy has a schoolboy crush, in my case it was Miss King the religious education teacher, it really was love at first sight, but i was not to be as the arch villian Mr King the design teacher had got in there first. One of her most amazing features were her breasts, that poked out of the skin tight figure hugging jumpers she wore, they sure did drive me wild. So moving on twenty years i was just surfing you tube looking at Spanish language teaching clips to watch and practice and it's when i saw her, not Miss King, but the new Miss King in my life Jasmin the sexy internet language chick, she even has the skin tight jumper on, the emotions and memories just flooded back, just for a moment i was 14 again. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YA8DybfLsOQ&feature=related (You need to watch the breasts, i mean video to see what i mean) On a less perverted note, we all watch watch clips on youtube, but how many read the comments that go with them, these are often the real gems..... how do i say" nice rack" in spanish? ajajaja I know everyone has been looking at her breasts and not paying attention, but should this be 'Silk originates from China'? or 'Silk is originally from China'? been two examples of ironic and funny things people have to say.......... well they made me laugh anyway, maybe it's a man thing. While browsing fubar mumms, i saw this question If the universe is supposed to be everything, yet scientists say that the universe is expanding, what is it expanding into? that quite a good question, so i gave it my best go at a decent reply..... it went as follows........ You're thinking of objects as they exist in space, but that's not the case with the universe. The big bang and the subsequent expansion of the universe wasn't an explosion in space, but an explosion of space. There is no center to the universe and no edges. Any point can be arbitrarily considered the center. From such a point most (not all) objects appear to be moving away, the more distant ones appearing to recede more rapidly. The term Big Bang is unfortunate in that it causes people to imagine an explosion from a central point and material streaming outward in all directions, producing a spherical shell defined by the outermost objects. That is not the case. It is space (a coordinate system) that is expanding. It could alternatively be said that the length of a meter is shrinking. If you have any further questions ask away, but not the one about how women think, i'm as lost as anyone with that one.......... james p.s. The Big Bang by Simon Singh is a great read and goes a long way toward explaining these ideas. Well there you go, breasts and universal theory in one bulletin, i bet you don't read many of those............. take care all, james x

I'm back.......

French coach Raymond Domenech has been savaged in the press after proposing to his girlfriend live on national television after their elimination from Euro 2008. He said he wanted to provide "a glimmer of light on a cloudy night" (The Independent). So much for all French men been charming....... So what have i been doing, boiled down..... Peep, walk, walk faster, peep, eat, peep, shoot, shout, peep, walk, crouch, drive, walk, peep. All in 50c , no it's not hell here, it's to amazing looking to be hell, it's just what it is, it's what it's always been.
