I have a 10 year in 5th grade and debating about taking her out of the public school system and home schooling her.
The pressures of school have seem to become so much worse from when I was in school. From the peer pressure, the teasing and bullies. Not to mention the lack of individual attention some students may need due to over-crowded classes. Typical problem child that just gets lost in the system. While my daughter seems to have problem being in a controlled environment, she is a good kid and very intelligent. However, they are too wrapped up in following their ridiculous "Discipline Plan" for sily little misbehaviors that sends students out of the class room.
She's at the point now where she's behind, lost and confused as to what she's to be doing and so am I. I have met with the teachers and just getting worse.
I am aware that there may be advantages as well as disadvantages.
Any insight or thoughts appreciated. |
