Holes in a Heart
by LateNiteFantasy©
The wind whistled through the
holes in her heart
as she bowed her head in silent prayer.
Never could she imagine the sadness
It wrapped around her,
wishing she could melt the ice that froze
her tears.
She stood strong.
A fortress damaged.
A woman injured.
Assaulted by a coward she never saw.
Proudly she stood wearing
the cloak of freedom.
Proudly she sang
the songs of liberty.
The wind whistled through the
holes in her heart
But it is a heart that will never die.
