On the news this evening was the story of yet another tragic mass murder committed in a school in the US.
It is hard for me to understand why Americans are allowed to buy handguns, in Iceland where i live ownership of guns is strictly regulated, handgun ownership is only allowed when the guns are kept at gun clubs, they are never allowed outside the premises of such places.
In Iceland shotguns and rifles are sold to hunters but first they have to get a licence to buy a gun, to do this they need to take a course in gun safety among other things, guns are not sold to people with criminal records.
What civillian needs an Uzi or a Magnum? The answer should be nobody, Who should be allowed to buy or sell that kind of weapon? Nobody.
I can understand hunters being allowed to buy shotguns or rifles but nobody would use an Uzi or a Magnum to hunt deer or birds, that would be pretty damm stupid.
The constitutional right to bear arms is a load of crap, gun ownership should be carefully regulated, idiots or lunatics should not be allowed to own or buy guns, owning a gun shouldnt be like owning a microwave oven, you can make popcorn in a microwave oven amongst other things but the only thing a gun is good for is shooting stuff, like people for instance.
