What are you waiting for?

That was the response I got from a younger, newer member here on Fubar that I recently friended in response to concern I had about some of her pictures.

In the course of rating her pictures, I came across several that had what was apparently her full name on them.  So I PM'ed her pointing it out and suggesting she might want to edit the name out, or I could edit the pictures for her if she didn't know how to.  I'm not a Photoshop Wizard, but do know how to edit pictures since I do like to shoot pictures.

I know of stalking incidents that have occurred through here and some other online social venues, so I was just trying to be helpful!  After all, with my being a Church Elder, past youth coach and Boy Scout leader and still having my Social Work License I've been through all the youth protection, online and personal safety trainings.

So rather than giving her a long response, I just responded that I was sorry for bothering her about it.

But I freaking care because I care about others!

Thanks for reading this... I just wanted to vent.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

But my VIP had expired in December.  I'm hoping to renew it sometime in later January 2010!  For those of you that don't know, I haven't worked since late June 2008.  I'm too disabled to qualify for unemployment, but not disabled enough to qualify (so far) for  Social Security Disability.  And no one seems to want to even offer me an interview, let alone a job!!

I will continue to rate profiles, new pics and recognize birthdays as I've been doing.  And I always try to return all love shown!  MUAH!

Thanks for understanding!

If I've added you to my Fubar family it's because I want to be sure to show Fu-love to you and your profile on a regular basis.

I try to show Fu-love to all my friends regularly, but the ones I add to my Fubar family are special to me for what they've said and posted during my time here at Fubar!

Hugs to ALL my Fu-friends!!

You can read the first book in the Ranger's Apprentice series, The Ruins of Gorlan, for free! Then follow this link: http://www.scribd.com/doc/10330799/Rangers-Apprentice-The-Ruins-of-Gorlan The Ruins of Gorlan is the first book in the series and I devoured it in less than a day of reading! :-) If you like books like J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series or the Pendragon series by D.J. McHale, you will LOVE the Ranger's Apprentice series too! And I'd bet your kids would as well....
Subject: We're all suspects?! Under new FBI guidelines proposed by Attorney General Michael Mukasey, all the FBI has to do to put anybody they want under prolonged physical surveillance is assert an “authorized purpose” such as detecting or preventing crime or protecting “national security." These kinds of Bush/Cheney/Gonzales/Mukasey “just trust us” policies have been eroding our rights for the past eight years. After illegal spying and top-level torture policies coming from the White House, this is absurd. Enough is enough! These new guidelines would allow the FBI to interview you, your friends and family under a false pretext. The FBI could recruit secret informants, and have them infiltrate peaceful protest groups. And the FBI to could initiate investigations based on little more than race, ethnicity or religion. The FBI could also search commercial databases for personal details about your life with no real reason. And all of this would be allowed without an ounce of evidence that you or anyone else has done anything wrong. These guidelines represent one step closer to a police state. And the worst part is that there is good reason to believe the FBI has been violating its internal guidelines all along. Fortunately, there is something we can do about this before the new regulations are implemented. I just demanded that the Inspector General at the Department of Justice launch an investigation to determine if the FBI has been violating its own guidelines. The Inspector General’s office at the Department of Justice has proven to be an unbiased, internal watchdog that has consistently exposed wrongdoing. We need to urge the IG to do it again. I just had my mumm deleted for the "Violation of terms of service" reason. It was: "I Got A Big Laugh Out of This. Is it funny or not? (or words to that effect) While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President. The old rancher said "Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle." Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle is. The old rancher said, "When your driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle." The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctors face, so he continued to explain..."You know she didn't get up there by herself, she doesn't belong up there, she doesn't know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with." So folks told me it wasn't a true mumm, and they may be right on that. The only thing I can say is NSFW is the word "ass" in the last sentence... I messaged the person sending me the notice for clarification, but doubt I'll hear back about it. Go figure...

Tag! You're it!

Instructions...... Once you have been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 weird or random things, facts, or habits about yourself. At the end, you choose at least 5 people to be tagged, listing their names . Don't forget to leave a comment that says, "You're it!" on their profile and ask them to read your blog. You can't tag the person who tagged you. 1. I'm addicted to having cats around me. 2. I love my Diet Coke, but try to limit myself to two cans a day. 3. I'm not so secretly lusting after a Nikon D-90 or D-300 camera. 4. I HATE working in retail! 5. Most days when I'm not working, I take a nap in the afternoon. 6. I read three to four books an month. 7. I'm hooked on ABC Family's "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." 8. I generally hate television. 9. I need to lose a LOT of weight! 10. And I'm starting to actually lose that weight! YAY!! I will tag: Marcie, Special K, Kittie, Enchanted_Lady_UK and Mella!

Gotta try!

For those of you that know me, you're aware I've been off work for the past two months due to problems with my left knee due to osteoarthritis. The results of that arthritis are a detached kneecap, a torn tendon or two, swelling in the entire leg that's been chronic for two months now. I've started injections of a chicken based product to try to reduce friction in the knee. It hurts a fair amount, but there seems to be about a 30% chance I'll have some improvement in the knee, but more likely I won't see any change at all. When meeting with my primary care doctor, he discussed having the lapband surgery done to lose weight. Over the past 20 years, I've gained 80 pounds... Mostly since I lost my therapist position, had to start working in retail to have some sort of income, and my feet and legs couldn't handle the stresses of working the sales floor for 40 hours a week and trying to maintain a program of distance walking and running. That sort of surgery scares me, so I need to get going on something better, so here goes: 1. Swimming laps for exercise. I found out that I can join the Rec Center at my son's university for $16 a month and he's starting there next week. So I joined two days ago and will start swimming there three days a week. My physician approved my use of swimming before I joined up, btw. This will be a long term project. 2. Very temporary use of an appetite suppressant. My doctor recommended it as a way to jump start my weight loss (and he wants to build a case to the insurance for the stomach surgery). Two to three months for that. 3. Measuring and recording EVERYTHING I eat! I've read studies that show people who keep a food diary are more successful at losing weight and keeping it off. This will be a long term project. 4. Pushing the orthopedic surgeon for corrective knee surgery. He isn't too positive on surgeries to reattach or replace the kneecap, but I can't live the the pain. And since my efforts over the past four plus years to get a job away from retail haven't been successful, I need to be able to be up and about full time! BTW I am still seeking non-retail work! Two months for that. 5. Be able to participate once again in endurance events. I've completed the Crim 10 mile race here in Flint as a runner 20+ times since 1981 and have found it a tough but fun challenge. And they now have a 10 mile walk as well. I may never be able to run again, but walking could be very workable if everything above works out. Plus it gives me a long term target I'm used to shooting for! Time frame of one or more years. That's it! Feel free to comment!!
