Last Day of 2017 Shopping

It's Sunday and the last day of 2017. On Sunday, Goodwill chnges the half off color.. so, while I was out getting lunch today, I decided to stop by and do a quick look around. The first thing that caught y eye was a Hip Hop styl oversized jean jacket. I can't really explain it.. I have an eye for 90s Hip Hop style fashion. I love finding clothing in new to gret condition and mixing it up with my everyday style. This jacket is black with gold stiching. Made by Mega Maxx jeans, It's size XXL and is kinda a rare find. As soon as I tried it on a gentlemen across from me said "Yeah, thats right. fits you good". So, I decided to get it.. It's very comfortable too.

Next up, I found a Coleman cooler made for the aircraft manufacture Boeing. It has Boeing across the front and it's blue. Maybe it belinged to a pilot and it's traveled all over the world... maybe it was a company give-a-way... You never know. I do know, I can't anything about t online and hopefully it will fit a 20oz Pepsi bottle. Gonna use it for work. I like little coolers.

Last purchase, I saw this unqiue industrial style chair. It's made in the USA by the General Fireproofing Company. It has a heavy base and back. It almost reminded me of a dentist or doctor chair, but built to the standards of an old airline seat. Thick welded metal, metal supports.. It's just stuff you can't buy today at any office store. And, for only $5... it was a pretty good deal. After eBaying the chair after purchase, it may be worth over $100 or more. I found one all beat up looking on eBay for $80. Do I have a current need for a chair?, no... but, I'm considering resellling it for profit.

That was my quick trip to Goodwill today. The last day of 2017. I had a little more spring in my step today too.. cause I' reconnecting with someone I've missed from my past.. so, it;s been a good day. Happy New Year everybody! :)

The Gaming System

Well, I went to Goodwill again yesterday early morning. I was just kinda bored from being off all week and wanted to look around. I did a round around the store and didn't see much of anything... When I got back to the front, I saw a real nice Playstation 2 Slim in Silver. It's a Playstation 2, but it's like mini sized.. it's kinda cute. It included a silver controller and all the plugs. When I popped the eject button, I even saw a game inside. The only issue I kinda had was the price.. It was $30.. Now, it might sound cheap... but think of the games you need to buy for it too. Even a simple little gaming set-up with a few games, you talking over $50. So, I told the Goodwill lady I'd be back later. I didn't have too much of a fear the systm would be sold.. the shelf sticker had said "!2/20" , which meant it had been sitting on the shelf since 5 days before Christmas. So, I left to get lunch and watch some TV at home.

After I ate lunch, I don't know why... I was giving it thought again about that game system.. did I need to spend the money? NO! But, after giving it thought after a couple of hours... I decided to drive back to Goodwill. In my mind, I'm thinking... I'll buy the system, a used fighting or driving game and have a nice time when I bring it home, hook it up. I couldn't wait! Game On!

Well, I entered Goodwill and walked back to the glass display where I was earlier that day. No game system... I asked the Goodwill lady if she sold it.. she said, "I didnt sell it... but, someone else might have when I went to lunch." So.. It's just my luck..  an item that's been sitting for over a week on the shelf.. is gone within a couple of hours after I looked at it. The Goodwill lady chimed it "the early bird get the worm".. I thought to myself, was the person who bought it really the early bird? Cause, I saw it first.. Lesson here and a lesson I've experinced in the past, if you see something you want, BUY IT! Just sometimes I like to look up items on eBay to get a good price idea and think on buying something.

I did find a new US Marine issued Marpat forest camo Garrison Cap that fit my big head perfectly. That only cost me $2.. I like different types of Military camo hats. They are made in the USA and made to last. And, besides it hard leaving Goodwill with nothing at all :-P

December 17th. 2017

Well... my first fubar blog posting. I really should have done this years ago... but, oh well. I often shop at the local Goodwill. I guess in the past, you could call me an addict. But, often I would find or, search out certain things for resale. I mean, the fun for me... I never know what I'll find. With my curreent schedule, I haven't had time to really shop like I use too.

Anyway, today was a crap weather wise and I was feeling kinda bored. Goodwill tags items with color tags. On Sunday at exacty 9am, I look for the what is called "the color of the week". This means, anything tagged this color is 50% off. If you have a good eye and get yourself to the store when it opens, you can really make out with some great deals. Normally in the past, I'd be down there at opening (10am) and have my deal eagle eyes on. Cause, basically you never know what you might find. I'm walked out spending $25 and flipped what I've bought for $200 on facebook market place. It can be done, I've made good money in the past doing this.

Today, was just a look and see day. I didn't intend on spending a lot of money. If something jumped out at me, I'd be on it. Well, as soon as I walked in the door the employees where brining out a rack of clothing. Since the weather has been so cold this past week, I'm mainly looking for sweaters, jackets or something warm to wear for myself.... Well, on the rack I spotted a vintage USA made (in Nashville) Horace Small police jacket with liner. I tried it on an it fit perfectly. It's in perfect condition as well. The patches had been removed, but that's to be expected. I thought it was a pretty niffty find. Looks to me about 70s vintage.

Second score, a handmade pottery coffee cup. I have a thing for real pottery items. Sometimes its the cool colors of the finish or, the thickness of the item. Just something to me about a handmade piece of pottery, cups or containers that feel good in the hands. I'd rather a good piece of pottery than some Mainstays item bought from Target or something. Plus, over time... you have a real unique collection of handmade cups. Anyway, this cup had a beautiful blue finish and will last me many years of use.

Third score, a vintage Igloo Munchmate Cooler. It's a small sized cooler that just has that early 90s vibe. I love the unique color combination of older cooler. I mean, you walk into Walmart and see the basic red, blue...blah...blah. Man.. in the 90s, you had purple on green or yellow on electric blue. Things just had more personality to me. Looking at this particular cooler, it looked new. No marks on the bottom, no warping inside. I alsp love the fact that it was Made In The USA. Everything nowa days, is Chinese made.. I kinda like having something made in my county. I'll definitely put my new vintage cooler to good use.

Well, that was the end of my shooping today. I didn't have the time to what I call "micro shop". That's where I look over everything and find that deal. I mainly just missed shopping at my local Goodwill and found a few things for myself. Sometimes things at thrift stores just jump out at you. I feel everything I bought today will be put to good daily use. The best part of my shopping day, I only spent $10! I could sell the jacket online for $40, the cooler for $25 and the cup for $10... but, everything today was for me! :)
