Romans 8:18
“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
God is going to put every child of His into the fire of affliction.
Why?
To test us.
You see, the faith that can’t be tested, is a faith that can’t be trusted.
The times when I have grown the most (and the time you will grow the most) is not when everything has been fine.
It’s been when trouble strikes and I have fallen on my face before the Lord and called upon His strength.
Think back on your own life.
Most likely, the times you have grown the most are those when you were going through sorrow, pressure, or trouble.
Isn’t that true?
Somebody penned these lines:
I walked a mile with pleasure,
She chatted all the way.
It left me none the wiser,
For all she had to say.
I walked a mile with sorrow,
And ne’re a word said she.
But oh, the things I learned from her,
When sorrow walked with me.
