Reality tv has its fans and critics and has since shows like 'Survivor' has made it prime time entertainment. It is all very similar no matter what show it is, a group of fairly diverse people are put into some sort of odd circumstance and feuds and friendships develop and drama ensues. This is all well and good as long as people keep paying attention.
The thing that caught my attention as I am a reality tv watcher on occasion is how well it captures some aspects of our culture. On two different occasions I have watched people have been voted off for being 'the biggest threat' aka hardest worker/best player. This perfectly portrays what happens in a real workplace. Instead of the hardest worker being praised, more often than not they are brought down but other clicks and stabbed in the back by various means. So, on a small scale, reality catches this aspect of our culture quite well. And I know what most will say...'it's just a game'....'I would for all that money' ...My only point is that we always speak of how we revere hard work, but the actions of our culture suggest otherwise.
Maybe I am noticing this more because I have been looking for it, but it seems there are a good number of women that feel ALL men are assholes, posers, liars, whatever...I use the internet to meet people, especially women due to my schedule and lack of time where women are. I have read many profiles on this as well as other sites that women, whom are trying to meet men I might add, feel that men are all liars or cheats. I am willing to wager about everyone that has dated on a regular basis has had their bad stretches. I have literally dated several women in a row that were crazy, stalker types. I do not condemn all women. I learn and start over. If I couldn't trust women anymore I would be a monk. I suggest women that feel that way should either get over it or become a nun. The rest of the world doesn't want to hear how you've become narrow-minded due to the last two guys that cheated on you. And smart guys won't want to date you. The only guys that will be interested will be the ones that will lie to get in your pants because you're easily manipulated.
When you lack faith or trust, you only set yourself up for failure. It sucks when you trust someone and they betray you or lie, but that has nothing to do with another, completely seperate person. There are billions of people in the world and to say that half of them are liars based on gender is just ridiculous. We have all been conned or lied to. The only thing we can do is stop it from happening again and be a bit more cautious. We cannot let a few people that tricked us sour us toward all others.
