I wrote this when I was about 16. GOD I was dilusional back then!! LOL
I saw a man
He had no smile
I asked, "what's wrong?
Come sit with me awhile."
He could not speak
The words were lost
I asked him to try
Trying does not cost
He raised his head
Ready to speak
The feelings were there
But ever so weak
He said he was nothing
No one cared anymore
Not a friend in the world
Nothing to live for
I asked him to try
Just one small thing
"Try one little smile
You'll hear the bells ring."
He said he just couldn't
Not a thing could make him smile
He got up to leave
Going down that last aisle
I stood up and said, "Wait!
Please let me help you
You see I have no friends
I am alone too
But I still raise my head
And smile to the sun
For I still have myself
At least that's someone!"
He turned back around
And said, "You know, you're right
I think I can try
I'll look to the light
He took my hand and...Smiled
We walked off together
We're no longer alone
We have the sun...
And each other.
Sappy, I know, but hey, I was a dumb kid!! LOL
