As I sit here and ponder on the days events and thoughts, I wonder how many actually carry people from Cherry Tap with you through out your daily routines and lives. I was given a chance to escape for awhile today when a set of keys were thrown to me and the words "Go, free yourself" were spoken as I grasps the incoming pieces of brass and plastic. I looked to my partner with a question in my mind and alls I got was "later, you need it".
I reached in my wrecker, grabbed my riding gear, threw it on, looked over to my hood and walked away. Cant be free with that thing on my head. Just dont feel the same with it. As I leaned the chrome and steal to me while throwing my leg over to the other side, I was already miles away. In went the keys, a twist clockwise, and the push of a button brought it to life. Pull the clutch in, drop the gear, release,throttle, and gone in a cloud of smoke knowing fool well where I was headed, the open road just a few blocks from my shop.
As I leaned into that on-ramp, kicking it in the ass while pulling out, alls I could do was feel the pressures of the world fading away. I wonder what was going through the minds of the people I was passing who have never been in my shoes to understand. Is he nuts, its freezing out was probably in the thoughts of a some and envy in the others. My eyes tearing up from the wind, my leather flapping as the pressure hightened while I pulled on the throttle even harder letting the engine breath all the air and fire it could. I could hear the pipes rapping as I moved between the man made walls of concrete...the sound freeing me even more so. Within minutes I was away from the city and in a world all my own.
Life has placed alot of barriers on me over the years, yet I have taken all the good things from it with me. Over the years and miles I have made alot of friends and probably even more enimies who which the later of the two dont matter at all, fuck em! Somewhere out there I just wanted to roll forever, to places I havent yet been and also to a friend who is a bit far from me in distance but never at heart. I thought of my daughter and the smile and laughter I get when we are together and all of it and all of you here at CT still came down to one person whom I wish could have been on the back of that scoot with me today, even as just a Thank-You for helping me have alls I had today and each one that comes. Shawn, if you read this you know who you are. Thanks Babe..I owe you big time!
I did mention all of you here at CT cuz I will admit, each and every one of you came to thought along the way. Each of you possess a quality of your own which I either admire or enjoy. I know I havent been around to visit much these days as life is so very full almost to the point of overload. One at a time I will be by to drop some love and freedom on your pages and life. You are great people and do mean something to me even though ya may not think so. I hope you all have a wonderful year to come and so many more. Take the time to smell the roses along the way, you would be surprised what you have taken for granted. Today, all of it was embraced in a single ride of "FREEDOM"
