Steps draw nearer,
each click bouncing
shadow to shadow,
echoing off alley walls,
panting breaths
harsh in the night.
Deep throated growls
tickle nape,
pricking ears,
raising hungers,
slipping skin,
a howl stirs the night.
And we run,
hunting moontrails,
playing nip and tug,
dancing earth's beat
on four step rythms,
living as we were meant to be.
