fiverr's blog: "fiverr"

fiverr

eBay, write on HubPages, or earn money in other places, so I was quite intrigued when I read about Fiverr on a friend’s blog. It is the place where you can offer to do anything for $5. What, I wondered, would people offer to do for $5?

I’ve seen Fiverr described as a huge social experiment and I was rather surprised at the range of things people are willing to do for $5. You can have someone text you for a week, have someone sing to you in Chinese, have people bookmark your site or even rent a 3 inch square of real estate for a year. The possibilities are as endless as the people who subscribe.

Having made money on eBay, and recently started writing on HubPages, I decided to check it out, and here are my initial impressions.

Firstly, just like eBay, there are buyers and sellers, although I think most people will be both. And just like eBay, Fiverr takes a commission. The buyer pays $5, but the seller receives $4 in his PayPal account. That’s 20% commission, which I thought was a little high, and definitely higher than eBay and Amazon fees. When you remove the $4, PayPal takes their commission. If you remove your money each time you get a payment of $4, you will be charged $0.42 in PayPal commission. You are advised to leave your money in Fiverr until you have a higher amount and then you will save on PayPal fees. If you do half an hour’s work for each gig you will be earning around the minimum rate of pay.

It seems a lot of people on Fiverr are already writing online, or at least aware of backlinks. A lot of people are offering to share your website with all their followers on Twitter, Facebook or other places. Some of them claim they will share with 10,000 followers or more. I wonder how many of those 10,000 followers would actually read the ad for my blog if the sender sends lots of paid for links.

Some of the gigs are funny, some will give you help with choosing a present for a loved one, you can have an avatar designed for you, or a dog behavior problem solved.

If you are looking for something, you can use the search feature. Most words I typed in the search feature came back with at least one gig.

Now you can never be alone, without someone to text or talk to. If you are stuck with a computer problem you can ask for help without paying consultancy fees. You can ask advice on any topic.

I set up an account less than a week ago. I thought I’d just put up 6 gigs to see what happens and already I have had 3 orders. I just joined Fiverr for fun to see what would happen, I really don’t see it as a long term means of income, but you never know!

"How do I earn money online?" I don't think I know a single habitual user of the internet nowadays who hasn't asked himself that question at least once. I also did, and spent months researching the subject. I have come back, finally, with answers and help for you.

I will be describing many different ways of earning money online in separate articles, so make sure you come and visit my profile often enough to keep track of everything. Enjoy, and I hope this helps you. :)

When I first found this website, I thought, "Wow, this is it. This is what I've been searching for all this time."

In case you didn't know, Fiverr is a "micro-jobbing" website. Here, a person may create a profile and make a list of things they would do for $5. Then, someone may come along and decide to order on of those "gigs". Therefore, all you really need to be able to work on this website is:

   1. Creativity to make that list of "gigs"
   2. The ability to complete any one of those "gigs" if a customer orders it from you

Now, let's have a look at the advantages and disadvantages of Fiverr.
Pros.

    * You don't really need any experience or even any brilliant knowledge of anything. There is no criteria. You just say what you can do and people who would like you to do it for them will come to you by themselves.
    * Anyone who has used this service before just has to admit that it's ever so fun to watch the revenues from the orders accumulating little by little.
    * If you feel that your creativity is running out, have a look at the green bar on the right with suggestions.
    * They are only called "suggestions", but really those are requests from users of Fiverr who need a job done for them. You may contact any one of them if you feel you can do the job.
    * If you are a worker on Fiverr and suddenly you need a job done for you, all you do is order that "gig", and the price will be taken out of your revenue money. As easy as that.

Cons.

    * Yes, it isn't a lot of money. And the crazy thing is that you'll find the gravity of your orders will vary from customer to customer. One may ask you to fix up a 5-slide presentation, which will take you ten minutes maximum, while another may ask you to transcribe an hour of audio for them.
    * Yes (and here comes the worst part) - Fiverr does take commissions. $1 from every order you complete, leaving you with $4 per order, and not $5 as promised.
    * You may only withdraw your revenue through Paypal.
