| Several years ago i moved to the east coast to clean up my life before I ended up dead or in jail. I laeft the best group of friends that you could ever ask for. The youngest, Jer-Bear, as we called him was dealing with some mental health issues of his own. Hallucination's,voices, etc. When I left he seemed to be doing better with it. We talked occasionally after I left but it became less frequent after a few month's. Well seven month's after I left I came back for my grandmothers funeral. The night before I left a bunch of my friend's threw me a goodbye party in honor of my grandmother. Jer-Bear was there and we got to talking.He was telling me about these dreams he had been having and when he woke up he found he had been sleep walking. I told him not to panick that thing's like that can happen to someone that has been through what he had. Out of the blue he started to tell me how he had bought himself a gun. That wasn't like him. An alarm rang in my head but I just brushed it off. People change it was no big deal. A couple month's later I recieved a phone call at work that he had killed himself the night before. Today for the first time I went to where he was burried. As i left I ran into another friend that said Jer had tried to get a hold of me the night he died. The general feeling of many people including his family is I have no right visiting his grave. I have been wrestling with this feeling since it happened. Now I am reaching out to strangers. Could I have stopped him, could I have made a difference if I had been here instead of half a country away. So the question is do I accept everyones opinion and take responsability like I feel I am. Or do I accept that it would have happened eventually wheather I had been around or not like my family and few friends that don't blame me say. |
