I feel so old sometimes in todays world of technology and convenience. I was brought up in a household where if we had guests we did not take phone calls other then to say~ "We have guests at the moment, I will call you back". We were taught that interacting face to face with people was important. They have given us their time and it should be appreciated and enjoyed to the fullest.
I dont answer the phone when I have a guest in my home.
I dont keep a cell phone because I find them intrusive and it strikes me offensive to be out with a friend or date and they take a call (and talk lengthy). Dont we ever get to spend time getting to know the person that is in our presence.
I still smile when a man (any man) opens the door for me. I don't expect it, but it brings a smile to my face.
It gives me comfort when someone takes my hand and we sit in silence. There is no uncomfortable silences for me.
Anyway, I am rambling. But it seems that the way we use technology today really robs us of close comfortable relationships. Really getting to know someone.
