Mr. Imus said something in the context of a comedy routine, in a joking manner. Was it inappropriate, yes. Do I agree with him or what he said, no. Do I think he should be fired, no. I don't like his program. I don't like the things Howard Stern, or Rush Limbaugh (amongst others) say. Guess what? I DON'T listen to them. I don't buy or listen to rap. I know how to change the channel. I love free speech in this country. Move to China if you want censorship.
As far as the race relations are concerned. I am a white man. I will never know what it is to be black (or any other race) or female. The fact is the "rap/hip-hop" culture has permiated our lifestyle. Watch MTV, do you ever see a "rock" video anymore? The kids with the baggy pants, and crooked hats, where did that come from? And, yes, when I see a black comic using the "n" word, and its ok. I wonder, "Why isnt it ok for me to say that word, just 'cause I'm white?" Every minority has there lil clubs, and its ok. But if I created a NAAWP, I'd be racest.
At the begining of the day, the choice is yours. If you continue to support the degrading, offensive things in this world with your wallet, it will continue to be sold. Go buy a Charolette Church album, some pants that fit, and put your cap on straight (unless you are a catcher on your baseball team). Stop calling each other "n" and "h", and maby things will start to improve.
Someone once said, "Its ok for Mr. Imus to say that because blacks say it, then does that make it ok to shoot someone, because someone else did it." Lets not compare apples to oranges, people. Murder and insults are not in the same sport, let alone the same ballpark.
Learn to change the channel, and clean your own house, before you call for the censorship of someone else. Or move to China, where all your choices are made for you.
