* The way the sun reflected off the lake. * Watching the kids use their imaginations not their Nintendo DS, playstation II, etc.!!! * Teaching the kids(again) how to play Rummy, Uno, Phase 10, Yahtzee and all the other games I loved as a kid. * Using 50 degree nights as an excuse to build the biggest damn campfire I've ever seen! ( no trees were harmed in the process - unless you could the ones that we cut up and burnt..) * Toasting ( ok burning to a CRISP) enough marshmallows to feed a small country! * Watching Fireworks - reflected in the lake - while singing "I'm Proud to be an American" * Coming up with the "evil camper" story with my daughters during our hike. * Finally feeling like it was safe enough to let the kids run around like kids should! * Pancake Dinner - on the last night - Yummy!

OK... So I went on vacation - Camping with the kids and my guy. This is how things went without my computer & CT for SEVEN days! Day one: This place is beautiful! I can't believe how dark it gets at night and how bright the stars are. Oh, I wonder if anyone's sent me any cherry mail, email, shouts....sigh. Day two: Still marveling at how peaceful it is out here in the woods. Hey, is that an electrical outlet?? I coulda brought my computer... Day three: F-ing tired of trecking a half a mile just to take a piss. Where's my f-ing computer?? I wanna rate some pics.. Day four: Sitting here watching the sun move across the sky - only 3 more days to go. I know i saw computers in the Camp office - maybe if I sneak in tonight... Day five: There's a lovely layer of dirt on EVERYTHING. I've played more card games than a Las Vegas craps dealer oh - and it rained into the tent. My cell phone has internet access....hmmmm wonder if it's worth a dollar a kilobyte.... Day six: I know the people staying in the camper next to us have a computer in there.. I see them holding it up to the window -taunting me- Them with their dry beds, clean kitchen, and satellite TV. I bet they're online right now!!!!!BASTARDS!!!!!! Day seven: I woke up at 6 - umm...just couldn't sleep. My tent's down and I'm all packed up - why the hell isn't anybody else ready?!? (I was home and online before noon) ....Now before anybody makes stupid comments about me needing help - I m just joking - OK?!? Though i have spent an average of 5 hours online (including @ work) the last 3 days...

Lived in the same neighborhood all my life - 10+ years in the same appartment. And I'm feeling tremendous wanderlust. 'Been a mom for 12 years now and just geting to the point where I can have a bit of freedom. I actually took a walk with one of my daughters while the other kids stayed at the house...We were able to have some one on one time. It seems like a small thing but It's HUGE. As a single parent of three who doesn't drive (working on it now) I've been pretty much chained to the house ..like I said about 12 years... Lately I've been thinking about how my Mom left my Brothers and Sisters when they were about the same ages as my children are now(mine are 12, 11 & 10. I'm not talking left to go to the supermarket - I'm talking left them in the custody of our (formerly)abusive Dad and left the STATE. When this wandering feeling hits me I wonder if I'm capable of the same disgusting selfishness. Deep down I know I'm not - I'm a very different person than my Mom was. And I haven't been through the same struggles that she was. All my siblings have come out ok - Luckily. They've all graduated from High school or got GED's and the youngest is on her way to college. I know myself - and as long as I'm able I'll be right here with my kids.

Playing cards with my girls on a blanket on the front lawn. My older daughter rubs her nose and notices a booger.. I point it out.. so she pretends to blow it at me - but some air got in there and it blew up like a big booger balloon.. I was laughing so hard I got stomach cramps! Kids in the neighborhood playing a game .. you have to call out the name of the person you're throg the ball to - while everyone's standing in a circle - soon people are shouting names- balls flying everywhere.. Good clean fun. I'm so glad summer's here - or almost!
