"Chill", was written in 2006. When are away from the one we love, I believe the chill of winter becomes symbolic. I also believe that in love there is hope of warmth, and that love will chase away the winter chill.
The dew is gone-
And the frost
Has claimed the rose,
Shimmering like diamonds
In the moonlight,
But with all of this beauty-
It is still cold as ice.
The stars overhead-
Countless wonders of the night-
Held in place by a frozen breath,
Find me staring at their beauty,
As if I was searching
For the ones perfect enough-
To place in her eyes.
I feel the sting
Of a stiff northern wind-
That makes me shiver,
And I am wishing now
That I was in her arms,
So that I couldn’t feel-
This winter chill.
But I do feel it
With every breath that I
Watch escaping into the night air,
And it’s in the vulnerable state
That I have to remind myself
Of her warm salvation-
That will eventually save me.
