What are you waiting for?

I don't only write about sex for my job...here is a book review that I did. The 'Skinny' on eating healthy Stop feeding your face with shit and you will get skinny. I am not so sure that it is quite that easy, but according to the authors of the trendy book "Skinny Bitch," that in combination with a few other lifestyle changes will help you become the skinny bitch you have always wanted to be. I started this book thinking it was going to be about another fad diet. A diet that helps you lose 50 pounds and then gain 75 as soon as you go off it. I also was skeptical because the book is actually written by two skinny bitches. What girl, or guy for that matter, wants to hear two skinny bitches tell them to give up fat ass bad habits - like smoking, drinking alcohol, guzzling diet soda like water and eating shit - I sure don't. But as I read the book, I actually understood and respected the points they were trying to make. And they weren't really preaching giving up bad habits - except they did say to be a skinny bitch you have to quit smoking. They actually were trying to offer alternatives. They stress healthy, organic, vegan alternatives to the normal fattening, sugar filled, "unhealthy" diets most Americans prefer. They offered reasoning for why we shouldn't be eating shit. Rory Freedman, a former agent for Ford Models, and Kim Barnouin, a former model who holds a Master of Science degree in holistic nutrition, actually did their homework on this one. These aren't stupid skinny bitches. The pair researched how our meat is slaughtered and processed. And let me tell you, it isn't pretty. The images portrayed in the book have me wondering if I will ever eat meat again. I was completely disgusted by the alleged practices mentioned in the book. The authors also did research on various governmental agencies that regulate our food. Some of the findings are frightening, to say the least. Basically, Freedman and Barnouin insist that we cannot trust the very agencies that were developed to keep us safe. Big shocker there. Although I agree with most of what the authors had to say, I am not sure that an all-organic, vegan diet is attainable for everyone. I know that if they were to read that, Freedman and Barnouin would probably say that only lazy asses couldn't maintain a healthy lifestyle. I don't believe that is true. Many factors determine a person's diet. I don't know for sure if some of the suggested foods in the book can be found in every neighborhood. And if the foods do exist, are they affordable? The vegan-pushing pair says in the book, "Don't be a cheap asshole. Yeah, yeah, yeah, organic produce is usually more expensive than conventional produce. But we spend countless dollars on clothes, jewelry, manicures, magazines, rent or mortgages, car payments and other bullshit. Surely our health and our bodies (we only get one body) are more important than anything else in our lives." I am not sure that manicures can be listed alongside mortgages, but if you are ready to make the leap into a vegan lifestyle and morph yourself into a skinny bitch, more power to you. And in that case, the book will help you pick out the healthy alternatives. The authors offer meal suggestions and list healthy, organic, vegan snacks and the brands that are the best. There are Web sites offered to get you on the vegan/organic track. It also offers a glossary of bad ingredients and offers tips and useful tidbits throughout. I am not sure this lifestyle is for me, but the book sure did get me thinking.
