The Apprentice is the story of a young sheepherder in the south of Wales, named Jason who is tricked by his own tricky devices into serving an apprenticeship with a wizard by another wizard, acting on the orders of the council so that young Jason will fulfill his destiny to become Merlin The Magician, the greatest wizard of all time this side of Gandalf The White.
The story covers his travels across more than 300 leagues to Northern Wales where he will serve his apprenticeship when the calling comes for him to report. The calling comes on his 14th birthday when a warhorse named Dark Star arrives with a note from the council calling him to leave everything and his home at dawn the following day and the horse would deliver him to his new master. long the way they encounter bandits like Brill and Crandle who come to no good end after chasing the boy across the mountains, thieves, murderers, and even a giant while hoping to avoid becoming dinner for Morloch The Terrible a dragon once thought to have gone extinct, who has clearly not gotten the
message yet.
The Apprentice is a wonderful adventure that is fun to read and safe for readers of all ages and abilities. The first book ends where the second book, "In Love And War" begins and the series will take a more serious turn that will be laid out in the final chapter of book 1 "The Calling."
